I am not ashamed to say that I was no Superman fan before Smallville. Iwas,in fact, totally against seeing it, having become relatively familiar withthe previews from watching shows such as 7th Heaven and Gilmore Girls ontheWB. And when a close friend of mine who was living with me insisted uponwatching it, I complained openly, especially considering there was aplay-off baseball game the same night. But since she was totally addictedtoit, I watched it with her to be nice. Before it was over, however, I toowasaddicted. Smallville, for me, grows more intriguing with every episode. Ilove Clark Kent, and not just because Tom Welling is so attractive. I alsolove the happenings in the relationship between Clark and Lex. Andalthoughthe whole Clark-loves-Lana-but-doesn't-want-to-put-her-in-danger gets old,Isuppose it helps to enrich the show. I think anyone who starts watchingthisshow will truly enjoy it. The acting is superb, and the plots arebrilliantly conceived and appealing to many people.

WHo doesn't like a story of superman? To be more descriptive, whodoesn't enjoy a TV show that displays teen angst and the story behindhow heroes become great. Hence, the question as to the origins of wheresuperman really came from. From the critically acclaimed story ofsuperman, comes a TV series that speaks about the story of superman, before he became infamous and as a young teenage boy. Smallvillefollows the life of Clark Kent and as he grows up, his powers developand he is forced to hide his powers, protected the people, all whilebeing a normal teenage who is still required to go to school.Smallville works as a fantasy series, because it adds historicalcontext to the actual history of superman, but also providing insighton the characters and how it affects them. If your a fan of visual andspecial effects, this is the way to go, because every episode i packedwith super strength, x ray vision heat vision, and almost any superheroyou could name. However, gearing up for their eight season, smallville,is become very dramatic with their character and plot. The episodes donot really seem to connect and some episodes would make you question ifthey should even be there. However, I have no doubts that they wouldcontinue with the story of superman theme, so it should be headingtowards more of the epic plot as he grows closer to his destiny. I saythis would be enjoyable for fantasy and even comic book fans, but forpeople who want superman accuracy, this series may often have youscratching your heads.

This show is not for you, if are a big fan of Sci-fi's and love X-Menand Spider Man animations and the great story behind them. This show istotally flawed, none of the facts in the serial seem to be in sync. Most of the things they show from episode to episode contradict. This show may appeal to 10 year olds, but if you are an intelligentviewer who puts direction, story and acting at a cross-wire, and expecteverything to be perfect or at least to be average, then believe meyou'll hate this show. You'll also hate the makers for disappointinghard-core Sci-Fi, superhero fans like us.Instead of making it interesting episode after episode, Smallvillesucceeds to drive away its intelligent viewers. Finally, do not watch it and make you loose interest in superheroflicks.

Ever wonder what it was like for Clark growing up? Well Smallville is aboutClark Kent (Superman) growing up as a teenager, dealing with teenage life.Ihave been waiting for this to come to TV and it has finally come and It wasbetter then I thought I give it a A+ The Special Effects they had weregreat, and it didn't go overboard with anything and the acting is great. Itis something a family can sit down and watch together.

A very interesting spin on the usual Superman theme.I must admit now that I have never been a great fan of the Supermancharacter - as a child reading the comics I found him too powerful, lending support to the idea of brawn beating brains. The ChristopherReeve films did little to change this perception (was I the only onecheering on Lex?).Smallville however, has introduced a more troubled, amoral and dare Isay it, 'Marvel themed' hero, facing physical and emotional issues withmuch less certainty and simplicity. The excellent writing is alsosupported by an equally talented cast, although the teen angst issometimes overplayed. This is still being aired in the UK (and in the US?). If you like morecomplex characters and plots in your heroes, then this is for you.

As a fan of the superman legend for many years, I waited in anticipation forthe new TV series , ÂSmallville'. I have been richly rewarded by it, as wenow get to see how difficult life must have been for ÂKal-el', as anAmerican teenager. Although we never get to see the Âsuper-being' fly aroundin his tights and cape, he is a fascinating character to watch, as he comesto terms with who he is and what he can do. This is the tale of a teenageClark Kent in the days before he was Superman.A huge meteor shower destroyed most of the town of Smallville, Kansas. Itkilled a lot of people, and brought Jonathan and Martha Kent what they havealways wanted: a son. In 2001, Smallville has somewhat recovered from thehorrible blast. However a popular yet awkward teen Clark Kent, attempts todecipher the meaning of his life and his clouded past. As he struggles withthe transition from boyhood to adulthood, his strength and strange abilitiesset him uncomfortably apart from his peers. Clark must deal with a varietyof individuals given powers by mysterious green rocks from the meteorshower, keep his powers a secret, cope with his friendship with a young LexLuthor, and balance the two girls in his life, Chloe andLana. This show, although it is touching on an old and celebrated story, still hasvery original aspects to it. The storylines that have been presented inÂSmallville' are of the finest quality, with some pushing the boundary thatcould reveal Âwhat' Clark Kent really is. While it is strange to see it, thefriendship that has developed between Clark's future arch-enemy, Lex Luthor,is fascinating. I am looking forward to seeing how Lex keeps turning into acriminal mastermind, while the shows has touched base on this a little. Ialso like the way that the story integrates seeing that not all ofSmallville's individuals have not escaped the dangerous affects of what weget to know later is  Kryptonite', the one thing that can hurt Superman. All of the stories have kept me interested enough to want know what willhappen next. The cast of this show, while it is somewhat unknown, is impressive. The leadrole of Clark Kent/ Kal-El, is done perfectly by Tom Welling. In fact theresemblance between Welling and the junior Clark performed in the firstSuperman movie, Jeff East, is incredible. The other young cast membersinclude the gorgeous Kristen Kruek, who plays the charming innocent LanaLang. I like most people hope that Clark does end up with Lana, as for somereason, she does not deserve someone as good as Clark is. Michael Rosenbaumplays a quality Lex Luthor, with the two newer characters in this story,Pete and Chloe, performed by Sam Jones III and Allison Mack. I do like thetwo older cast members who were given the roles of Martha and Jonathon Kent.Martha is played by Annette O'Toole, who if you can remember appeared in thethird ÂSuperman' movie, as a grown up Lana Lang. I really like her as ClarkKent's mother, but for what reason I don't know. While John Schneider is alikeable Jonathon Kent. I like the soundtrack that this show has been given. The show's main tune of`Save me', suits it very well. That song is performed by Remy Zero. Whilethe other bands that have been used in Smallville include The calling, withtheir great hit Âwherever you will go', and Eve 6's ÂRescue'. While EnriqueInglesia's smash hit of ÂHero' also appeared in one episode. The soundtrackthis show has really helps keep my interest and gives the program aÂyouthful' feel as well. All in all this show has given back more than what I excepted. I guess myonly criticism of it has to be the corny and contrived love story theme thatit continues to bring up, especially between Clark and Lana. I wish theywould either be lovers or just friends. Swapping from one phase to the otherstarts to become confusing and frustrating, well does for me anyway. It willbe fascinating to see what happens once Clark Kent realises he has to leaveSmallville and pursue what and who he was meant to be, that of course isbeing Superman. I have found it hard to accept that Clark Kent is growing upin the Âpresent', that being the new millennium, as it does not seem to fitthe ÂSuperman' genre. Perhaps that is a good thing, as Superman might have adifferent feel in the future. Whatever happens, I will continue to watchÂSmallville' hoping that it is original in every aspect.

I've seen every single episode of Smallville and I think I'm qualified toaffirm that it is one of the best shows on TV... Ever. It will keep you onthe edge of your sit; you don't see that in most movies which costs surpass$60 million dollars. Of course, this series has a $$$ budget and, likesomeone said, they take advantage of it.The acting is pretty good (don't even get me started on Kristin Kreuk'sbeauty... You know, that Lana girl... Whoops! Is it all right that I talkabout that?). All the episodes bring us the emotions that you could expect agreat show would bring. The bottom line is that this show will be around for a while and I am SOO.K. with that, not only because I LOVE the show, but because it is one ofthe coolest productions ever made for TV and most people appreciatethat.

This program is really cool. When I first saw it, I stayed astonished. Allof the episodes have excellent ideas and acting. This show is better thanBirds of Prey, although I'm a big Batman fan. The idea of showing ateenagerSuperman was fantastic. I hope that Smallville last for a long time and bestill on air when the new Superman movie comes out.

I am busy on Wednesday nights with work and church activities, but Irecordit and Angel. My mom and grandmother have learned that if it didn't tape,it's a re-run, or they didn't show it for some reason that I'm not a happycamper until the next Wednesday. The characters are the best, the plotgetsme every week, and Clark is so hot! I keep yelling at the screen, 'Tellheralready!' And when Clark and some girl were stuck in a falling elevatorandshe teleported them out, I got chills. I wish Clark would just tell Lana. And Chloe! That was a weird triangle going on for a while. Pete is thecoolest. He keeps Clark's secret like it's nothing. One of these daysLioneland Lex are gonna catch on. In the cartoon series, Lex is Clark's enemy soIcan't wait to see how that plays out!

I know that Smallville has been airing for quite some time and I'm alate entrant so this review is for people who are latecomers likemyself. So far I've seen the first 3 seasons and I have to say thatthere are some mixed feelings. There's a review from a user called Spacetree who pretty much reviewedit in the same way I'm about to do, except he/she went to season 5 andhad some spoilers, which I won't include. The first season so far has been the best of the three- we saw ClarkKent as an awkward teenager who knows about his abilities and hisheritage but has yet to experience the full extent of his powers, whichare introduced as the episodes go. We are also thrust into theinevitable love angle between him and Lana Lang with new characterChloe Sullivan providing a twist. I have to admit that while theromance, or the hint of a romance, between CK And LL was cute andinteresting at first it's just degenerated to the point of annoying andirritating and you have to blame the writers for that. At one point Ijust started forwarding all the sappy end scenes between Clark and Lanawhich always take place at the Kent Farm or at the Talon and each oneis the filled with the same angst, anguish and usual "let's not take itany further but we'll keep eying each other longingly in the nextepisode." It's not just annoying, it's absolutely head bangingfrustrating and that alone would merit a rating of 3/10 for the show. While it's nice that the writers have taken a liberty from the comicbook story lines and refreshing to see some of the original traitsincorporated there's more downs and ups to the liberties. I can't forthe life of me understand why the writers would have so much Kryptonitefalling in Smallville. It's a gold mine of green stuff and it'sabsolutely stupid. It's like when Clark was sent to Earth his parentsdecided to ensure that there was plenty of killer Kryptonite toaccompany him on his journey...It also seems that every show needs a conspiracy plot to add to themounting tension and the writers must have been X-Files fans. WhenClark isn't pining after Lana he's got to watch out for the evil Luthorcorporation...He's supposed to be a kid who's biggest worries should beabout trying to pass a biology exam and adjust to his growing powersand yet he's doing Superman's job before he even becomes Superman...All in all there are some decent episodes in the show but the firstseason has been the best of the lot and after that it's starting to godownhill. If I could "vote" off a character at this point it would beLana Lang. Kristin Kreuk looks cute but she has the same puppy dog lookin every scene, that and a nervous twitch every time she's with Clark.Basically her character is only around when the romance angle needs tobe exploited or she needs to be saved by Clark, and her neediness i.e.desperately wanting to know about Clark and his secret has become verytedious. In any case I'm not to impressed with the actress anyway. Ithink Chloe is much better as a character and she seems to be growingstronger in leaps and bounds, something Clark should be doing ratherthan brooding on Lana every second. I know that teenage romance is likethis but...there has to be a limit... If this keeps up I may even stopwatching the show altogether. Hopefully season 4 picks up some speed...

i just don't want any one think this is a racist Against Women, Butit's true why such a great show like smallville use this uselessInterior story about one girl every one is fighting for from the firstep. in season one till now , really there is not hard feelings i reallylike Kristin Kreuk and her acting is great, but i didn't like the waythat put the entire story about " How winning Lana Laing Heart " it'skind of silly Except that the show is really great and worth watching,i really love the story and i think from all the subjects presented onsuperman this show is the best. the effects also very good and also theacting.

I thought at first that it was going to be very naive and only for teens. But actually I'm 29 and just became a big fan of the show. Theperformancesare pretty good, the dialogs are well developed and it's very difficulttofind a cliche, (they are very common in a show like this). I fullrecommendit to all sci-fi and Superman fans.

I think this is one of the best shows on television. The storylines aregood, the music is great and the acting is well done. If you are tired of"reality" TV and asinine sitcoms give this one a try, you'll bepleasantlysurprised.

I started watching this show half way through it's first season. Sincethattime I've been hooked. I've been able to watch it from first episode tothis weeks, and I'd have to say it's written brilliantly. The writers aretaking their time building Clark Kents abilities, showing the evil side ofLex luthor, but more importantly, the writers are getting the viewers tolike Lex Luthor. The casting was well done. The actors appear a little to old and matureforhigh school, but all dramas for that age group are. Who knows how old theDawson's Creek kids are now?I'm hoping the writers continue what they are doing now. It's easily myfavourite show on TV today.

I love this show! 1st, let me say, that I am a Superman fan from wayback!Christopher Reeves was and is my all time super-hero! And this newSupermanhas what it takes to become my present day hero! He's just gorgeous, andhe's got this quality that screams, "I am Superman!"I will forever love this show, if they stick to the comic, and trulyfollowthe life of Superman and his relationship with Lex! I want to see theirfriendship grow, and then how it falls apart! Just Classic!I just can't wait to see how the show will continue to grow and getbetter!

Hi,After watch practially all episodes of this series, I find following:Jesus is Idiot Superman is Jesus Superman is IdiotSuperman is far from being "Super" since in Smallville, thanks to themeteorites, practically all the population has capacities. With season 6, we see the real nature of Lana. It is a bitch. It is forthat that it is the girl friend of Lex Luthor now.If Lionel Luthor is Evil, Lex, his son, his the God of Hells.Lex Luthor is not bright, it's Clack Kent who are idiot. If a person kills the father and the mother of Clark Kent, Clark willnot cry the death of these parents, but will cry the poor killer.Another proof that Clark Kent one is retard. One sees the real nature of Martha Kent. It is a senior liar. It is forthat that it makes of the policy and that she Love Lionel Luthor.Chloe is ready to sell father and mother to have her scoop. It is abeautiful bitch.Lois Lane is a idiot. But it is beautiful in bikini...

I have been a fan of "Smallville" from the beginning, and was veryhappy both as a viewer and a fan at how this season turned out. Indirect opposition to season four's disastrous story arch involvingIsobel and the Teague family attempting to manipulate Lana, this onetakes a much more serious (and yet enjoyable) path through Clark'schoices and their ultimate consequences. It also shifts the loveinterest from Clark and Lana to Lex and Lana, something they have beenhinting at four seasons and only now have the courage to bring out.Lex Luthor and Jonathan Kent do battle to become state senator, LionelLuthor switches sides (again), Clark consummates his love for Lana andthen is forced to give her up, Chloe starts working for the DailyPlanet, one of the leading cast members is killed off, and it winds upin the most explosive, dramatic, and powerful season finale of theseries. It's rare that I have enjoyed almost every episode in a season, butthere is some solid stuff here -- "Lexmas" is a heart-ripping "what if"featuring Lex's alternate life if he is to choose the path of good, with a sadistic twist in the second half to make Stephen King take astep back; "Tomb" is a fantastically fun ghost story in which AllisonMack plays an alternate Chloe; "Reckoning" brings two consecutivedeaths and a painful funereal; "Mercy" revolves around the charismabetween Martha and Lionel when a manic madman forces them to make theirway through his house of horrors; and five or so episodes revolvearound the steadily building seduction of Lana Lang. Tom Welling alsomakes his directorial debut (and a marvelous one at that) in "Fragile,"an ironic twist of fate since it contains a super-hot first kissbetween Lana and Lex at the end.I am a little disappointed that there aren't more features (one wouldhave thought at least "Reckoning" and "Fragile" would get a commentary, and no blooper reel is unfortunate, since many of the actors havementioned the various pranks and oops! on set) but will be delighted toown this season. I look forward with great anticipation thepossibilities the next will bring.I still watch season six and its good. Overall this is one of myfavorite shows. My thursdays revolve around this.
