The Final Chapter, hopefully.

I had high hopes for this movie after watching Saw VI and seeing howits ending looked like the perfect set up for the finale of the series. The first complaint I have is that there is a gory scene in thebeginning of the movie involving a love triangle between two young guysand a girl. The guys are faced with the choice of saving the girl theylove and trying to kill the other guy, or just saving themselves andletting the girl die after finding out from the tape that she is aslut. The problem is, unless I missed something, this scene really hasnothing to do with the plot of the rest of the movie. It seems to methat it was just a vain attempt to woo all the little young lovebirdsspending their parents money. The 3D aspect of the movie was disappointing. There were only a fewmoments when I got even remotely excited with the 3D thing and stillthose were mediocre at best. Eighty percent of the movie would havebeen better without the glasses except the picture is blurry withoutthem, so gotta keep them on.Also, I was surprised that the movie ended pretty much where Saw partone began with the foot trap. I was under the impression that the copsknew about this building by now and might look there before Hoffman hadtime to die of thirst (that's not to say that he would be any betteroff being found and facing the consequences of his murderous rampage).Apart from all that, it was a pretty nice gore fix. The reverse beartrap on Betsy Russell really stole the show. Not good, but notterrible. 5 out of 10.

The Series Goes Out With a 3-Dimensional Bang!

I have had a checkered opinion on this series for awhile. When I first viewed SAW back in '05, I was thrilled and decided it was my favorite original horror film of the decade... at least for a little while. When SAW II and III came along, the vision was destroyed for me, and I sort of resented the series as nothing more than a tacky money maker milking the first movie for everything it was worth. And then something happened. The series kept going, and people kept going to see it. As more and more of Jigsaw's history was unearthed, I found the series to be getting cheesier and cheesier, but also more interesting.Let's get one thing straight, SAW 3D (or SAW: THE FINAL CHAPTER, as they are lamely yet necessarily calling it for home video purposes) is a tried and true popcorn movie; nothing more, nothing less. While I can't say that I've made it to the movie theater for every one of these movies, I can comfortably say that they're much more enjoyable in a theater environment, whether it be an actual cinema or around the TV with a bunch of friends. For me, there's little satisfaction to be had sitting in a room cringing, gagging and laughing all by myself, but it's a lot of fun with another person present. At first I was resenting sequels to the first SAW because I felt that they lowered it from it's pedestal into the pit of B-movies, but I have to give the series credit for going as far as it did. How many film franchises can boast hitting their first seven entries in their first seven years? Not even Godzilla or James Bond can say that much, as many of their movies were given a few years to breathe in between productions.Getting back to SAW 3D specifically, this is not a scary movie. Don't expect much as far as plot or haunting ideas that stay with you for days like some films are capable of producing. What you CAN expect is some haunting VISUALS that might stay with you for days, and some serious creativity in that department. With the absence of Jigsaw himself as a major character, we're left with nothing but cardboard cutouts who we actually want to see die, and we are given just that; in that sense, the movie is a terrific success. There's no sense in delving into plothole peeves; they're there, but that's not why we're watching this movie. SAW 3D, and the SAW series as a whole (with the exception of maybe the first one) is not where we turn for extensive plot and character development, it is where we turn to see the work of some really talented special effects artists giving it all they've got, and I have to applaud the effort.(... And I can't help but once again comment on the title change. I don't really see any harm in calling the movie 'SAW 3D' for home video market, since that is the actual title card that appears in the film, which I'm glad they didn't change. But if they HAD to change the name for perfectly logical reasons, I think 'SAW VII' would have done much better than the dreadfully overused 'The Final Chapter'. Just a minor thought.)

IS IT REALLY THE END?

3-D has taken the theaters by storm this past year. So much so that everything but the kitchen sink has been tossed at audiences (and I'm not certain that even that hasn't been thrown). Greek Gods to zombies have found there way to the format so is it any wonder that a horror series jumped on board? SAW 3D THE FINAL CHAPTER supplies that need.Fans of the film series have loved every gruesome, gory scene offered. But now they had the chance to witness it in 3D in theaters. But with the movie being released on DVD in regular 2D format is it a good movie? Without the comin' at ya type effects, is it any good? The answer is yes and no.If you've been following the series at all you know that the film began with 2 people chained in a run down old subway type bathroom being provided knowledge of how they had wronged people and given a chance to make a choice, one that would involve some great pain or damage, but that would give them the chance to make write their wrongs. The series continued in this vein with the main character of Jigsaw, the culprit who was behind the dangerous torture fueled traps that held each person captive, who in reality was John Kramer (Tobin Bell). It seems that John was diagnosed with an inoperable condition and then treated poorly by everyone from insurance agents to police. With nothing to lose, he set out to help people change their lives, giving them an opportunity to become valued members of society or perish in the process. Talk about tough love.By the time this film opens, John's last assistant has gone on a rampage and disgraced the original intent that John began with. Sure it was crazy, but Det. Mark Hoffman (Costas Mandylor) has taken it into a whole different direction. As seen in the last film, rather than truly offering people a chance to change, he's set out on making the traps inescapable. Instead of a chance it is now out and out murder. It appeared that he was facing death at the hands of John's wife (Betsy Russell) in the last film, but he escaped and is now searching for her as well as setting up a whole new game for Bobby Dagen (Sean Patrick Flannery). It seems that Dagen claimed to be on of Jigsaw's victims, profiting from writing a book about his experience and going on to creating self help groups for other victims as well as a DVD of their meetings. Now Bobby must face Jigsaw for real in the form of Hoffman. And with each new trap we are witness to another form of torture that has the potential to end gruesomely and with much blood spilled. While not quite out and out torture porn, as this genre has been named, the film does have the viewer bear witness to some truly gut wrenching deaths. Perhaps not if you've seen the other films, but anyone just now jumping on may turn their head more often than once.As Hoffman pursues John's wife and sets in motion Bobby's trial by fire, the police are hot on his trail. Tracking him through the clues left behind, they narrow it down. But will the get there in time to prevent another death forever linked to Jigsaw? One thing the movie does offer is the chance for it to truly end. And the surprise ending here was one that caught me off guard and was actually quite satisfying. But it did offer the slightest chance for the series to continue. One can only hope that the makers of this series let it go out on a high note rather than milk it for one last dollar. I mean does anyone really feel the need to pull out JASON GOES TO MANHATTAN? Six films in a series that has only one (in my opinion) truly bad film is something to take pride in. So if you're a fan you'll love this one. If you've come and gone, you'll get a decent solution to the story. The lose ends are tied up nicely by the last minute. The series has a beginning, middle and an end. And the ending offered is satisfactory.

mediocre

Disgraced lieutenant Hoffman goes on the warpath against Jigsaw's widowas the last of the tests unravel in a hellish scenario, replete withdisembowelment in three dimensions. My problem with this movie is knowing how much better it ought to havebeen. Speaking as a legitimate Saw fan since the birth of thefranchise, I could not believe how much the current creators of thisnew instalment had to press the audience to suspend their disbelief.Saw 3D does not fit the tone of the other movies at all. The story isessentially sacrificed for ridiculous trap scenarios that do not evenmake sense or are even feasible. In the first Saw films all the trapsthe characters had to endure were genuine plot devices that strungalong the narrative, not gratuitous over-the-top deaths of strangersthe audience is never going to care about. The ubiquitous twist, of which the franchise became known for, was aham-handed "surprise" entrance by Dr. Gordon. While I was a bigsupporter of Gordon being alive the whole time, his appearance in thisfilm is total fanboy pandering. I expected a much larger conspiracy inthat respect. Finally, Jigsaw/Kramer. What a mess. What primarily drew audiences inwas Jigsaw's perverse moral compass, his seemingly cruel yet poeticagenda that played with the will of people, his want in answering thedarker questions on the human condition. In this movie, dementia musthave set in, because he's punishing twenty somethings over a misspentrelationship while abandoning his dynasty to a mope who has someserious bloodlust and a cripple doctor who apparently has completelyavoided public scrutiny.Wait for the DVD.

The new king of horror

Saw 3D was the perfect ending to this horror film franchise. What allstarted out as a small psychological thriller, turned into the besthorror franchise ever created. Saw 3D contained massive amounts of gorefor those gore fanatics like myself, an all-star cast of returningcharacters and some good new ones, and as many twists and turns as youcould think of. At one point in the movie I realized that I wasactually biting my nails, which is the sign of a great suspensefulmovie. And believe me this movie had plenty of suspense! Since my olderbrother in 2004 sat me down, tied me to a chair with the lights out,and made me watch this movie, I've been hooked. The way the directortied every single saw into this movie made me satisfied that nothingwas left out. Go re-watch all 6 saws and then go see this. You will notbe disappointed one bit! all i have to say is one simplething.....since the 3rd saw I had a feeling it was Dr. Gordon allalong. Never could put my finger on it as no jigsaw ever limped aroundwhile they wore that cape thing. But I knew it was true, in the 6th onei believe, when the doctor said that the cuts on the body were from adifferent knife...almost of surgical quality. That made me 100% surethat Dr. Gordon had survived and was a part of this whole fiasco. AndI'm glad it was him to end all of it!!!!!!!!!

Spoilers

Honestly after seeing this movie I could only realize how good saw oneis and how much saw 2-6 sucked. saw 3d is best by far. It gives theaudience answers to all questions. If you have seen 1-6 and you havegiven up you need to get to a theater. The main guy in a trap is afaking saw survivor and he gets caught. he gets put into a series oftraps similar to saw 3 except in his opening trap he could die. He goesthrough and fails to save everyone, and then has to rip out two of histeeth to get to his wife. as he lied about he needs to attach two hooksto his chest and climb and plug the two cords together to save hiswife. he grabs the two wires but the cut he gave himself was not deepenough, it rips off and falls. the time runs out and his wife is placedin an oven and is burning. He runs at it and electrocuted himself.During the end of saw 6 Hoffman survives his trap. He is trying to goback after Jill. Jill dreams of go-cart trap, thats not how she dies.Hoffman leads police into his new crime scenes, one has a chain guncome up and kill them the other a gas that kills them. Hoffman hastapped into security and kills the guards. He gets to Jill and locksher to a chair. He puts the Amanda head trap on her head. She dies andHoffman lights everything on fire and tries to walk out but 3 people inpig costumes stop him. they stab Hoffman and the one takes off his pighead, its Gordon. the others were survivors. Gordon takes him to hishouse and locks him in with no saw to rot to death. It was revealedthat Gordon was the one who helped jigsaw the most. However the"Chester Bennington car trap" was not important for revealinginformation like the public trap, it just gave the police clues onwhere to go next. Everyone dies in the chester trap and the two guyssurvive the love triangle killing the girl. It could have done without3d but it did answer all of the questions. 10/10

The final chapter of the madman jigsaw.

I was out and about this Halloween weekend and figured I would take ina good old fashion horror movie to celebrate the weekend. I was at thelocal theater and took in saw 3d the final chapter of jigsaw. The setting for jigsaw's latest gore fest took place in what look likeNew York City to me. The movie centers on the survivors of jigsaw'straps over the last few films. They get together to talk about whathappen with the self help guru and fellow survivor bobby Dagan played dby (Sean Patrick flattery). Sean has deep dark secret that unleashjigsaw's terror. There is a fight for the legacy of jigsaw between hiex wife Jill tucker played by (Betsy Russell) wife and partner in crimeHoffman played by (Costas Mandylor) that cause a lot of grief for thelocal police dept as they try to solve his murder traps all over thecity as Hoffman tries to catch Jill and keep her quiet… wink wink. Thetraps set all over the city are going to make you cringe. I guessthat's the point with jigsaw right. The story line about how bobby Dagan came to be who he is in the moviea how he became the so called survivor is good for a horror movie likesaw. The 3d effect made the movie bloody and gory, it actually made mecringe at the trap scenes coming out of the screen. One example is ascene that Jill tucker was dreaming about. Hoffman had her tied up in awarehouse and sent trap flying towards her and split her in half. Thebody parts came right out of the screen and felt like it would d landon your lap. The 3d effects in my opinion are a good thing for horrormovies it adds to the effect of the movie. I thought the use of thejunk yard at night was a great effect from the character Hoffman andhis mind set.I would give it 3 stars for the story line and the 3d effects and somecrazy traps that I won't describe I'll let you go see it for yourself. All in all I had a productive day before Halloween got my errands done, and took in a guilty pleasure of this Halloween treat. My link is http://thehollywoodreview.blogspot.com/

3+D=7…Oh, I Get It

Sure, Friday the 13th went 12 movies (including the remake andcross-over, Freddy Vs. Jason) and Halloween crept to ten films. Notall, make that hardly any, of the sequels were good. Seven Saws followthat pattern and I admit, Saw VII (or Saw 3D) was set to be the worstuntil the finale of finales actually redeemed itself. What's to say, by this point? More twists, more torture and moreterrible acting and dialogue. Make that more of the same. I foundmyself wondering "Why am I continuously watching this torture?" Andseriously…is there any more reason to watch this gruesome and so-called"inventive" ways of people hurting themselves or others time and again?NO.So, I loved the ending. For two reasons: it was, in fact, a good twistand it does feel like the end. I hated this movie until the final 10 orso minutes. Nothing felt new, nothing felt fresh. Hell, Friday the 13thPart VII: The New Blood, as bad as it was, as least introducedsomething new: telekinesis. And Saw 3D, aside from the horrid andgimmicky "JAWS 3D" tricks, just threw in some completely irrelevanttortures, such as the store front threesome.Side Note: that threesome torture scene, featured in the preview, actually gave me some hope. I thought they were going to bring Jigsaw'sgames to the public, finally. Well, that's new! Ha. Though that happensin the first few seconds, and though I thought that would be thefinale, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the rest of the film, noreven brought back up. Talk about gimmicks used for 3D; this one wasjust to get increasingly empty theatre seats filled.I digress. The story is (mainly) about a novelist that supposedlysurvived a Jigsaw victim's trap and tours the country and has evenopened a group session to the press. So much for the second A in AA.Obviously, he'll be the target for the new Jigsaw protégé, Mark(Mandylor) as the cops close in on the killer/non-killer. Meanwhile,Jill (Russell) the widowed woman who at one time wanted to carry on herdead husband's (John "Jigsaw" Kramer, played again by Tobin Bell)legacy and now wants immunity.Well, it's the same show you've seen for four sequels by now…until youget to the climax. If you must watch this trash, at least make it tothe final "surprise." It's not the best shocking conclusion I've seen, but it's satisfying for one that's seen all seven in the series. Nomatter if they want to make Saw VIIID, I'm believing this is the "true"ending, like when Terminator 2: Judgment Day or Halloween H20 shouldhave been to real ending.

Most awesome ending ever!

I was so looking forward to seeing Saw 3D and I must say it did notdisappoint! This was to me the greatest ending to a movies franchiseever. I don't believe I will ever see another series like Saw again.Everything was just perfect in this movie. The traps were amazing thestory all tied together perfectly and I never saw the ending coming butlet me tel you, it will blow you away. It was just perfect. I am sad tosee it end but I think they ended it at the right time otherwise itjust would have ended up the Friday the 13th and been crappy! My onlycomplaint was the 3D. They did not need this in 3D. You only see a fewbody parts fly here and there. I would have rathered watched it withoutthe glasses. Enjoy

Best certainly saved for last (Quick Review)

Pros: A good storyline with plenty of twists. Some of the most creative traps to date.I really liked the scenes outside rather than always being set in thedark dingy rooms (excluding flashbacks) like in the other movies.Good ending.Cons: Some of the acting was a little off, Chad Donella (Who played Gibson)did not do a very good job, I sometimes could not tell if he was tryingto be sarcastic or if it was just bad acting before including no... heis just a dodgy actor. The scene during the television interview alsodisplayed some terrible acting from the characters behind the cameracrew as well as the woman interviewing 'Bobby'.The 3D was disappointing. At times there seemed to be too much going on at once with too manycuts to different locations

While Saw 3D isn't a good movie, it's close enough

** out of (****)The title pretty much sums up my feelings toward "Saw 3D". It's not agood movie. It's not even recommendable. But it's close enough, andreally, that's all that matters. It's kind of like the continuous"Friday the 13th" series. "Saw 3D" is that one installment that ispotentially one of the better movies in the series, even if it isn'thigh art. Let's cut to the chase: "Saw 3D" was made for either thegorehounds, fans of the traps, die-hard fans, 3D fanboys, or Dr. Gordonfans. If you don't fit those descriptions, I advise you seek outanother film. While this installment carries a whopping 9% on Rotten Tomatoes, mostcritics view my perspective: "It is what is; Take it or leave it". Iwouldn't consider myself a fan as this franchise really never had agood movie. Saw III (in my opinion), came the closest to being a goodfilm. Saw IV and V on the other, were just awful. Saw II tried hardenough, but besides Saw III and II, no other film truly impressed me,including this one.How is Dr. Gordon's return? Pretty cool, not going to lie. The openingsequence definitely will excite fans. How is the 3D? While mostcomplain about the 3D, call me moronic, but I liked it. Saw 3D used themost expensive 3D cameras and yes, filmed with them. The result, asexpected with filmed expensive 3D cameras, was solid. Now the 3D wasn'tas strong as "Afterlife" and "Avatar"'s 3D, but nevertheless, it wasreally good. How are the traps? Extremely impressive. You can tell thedirector is dedicated to them. How's the gore? Saw 3D is the mostdisgusting of them all. The body count may be well over 30. This is onemessy movie.Now... how's the acting? Pretty amateur and nothing to sneeze at.Pretty standard acting. How's the script? Another major flaw. Thedialog is pretty cliché at moments and nothing truly sticks out.Overall, "Saw 3D", as a sequel, is fine. It could be a lot worse, butit could be better. It has a specific audience and that's pretty muchhow it should stay. I don't see the little old bitties going in line tosee people get sliced-and-diced and I'm pretty sure most adults thathave reached 30 and over won't venture into this latest splatterfest. You can do a lot worse, but... you could do better.

3d effect is disappointing, movie was ok.

This review is from: Saw 3D: The Final Chapter (Two-Disc Combo: Blu-ray 3D / Blu-ray / DVD / Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) First of all I'm not a fan of the series, I just bought this movie because it is one of the first ones to come out in bluray 3d format and I wanted to test my 3d compatible laptop. My review is based on the 3d experience that I got out of this movie. This is not the first 3d movie I've played on my computer so I have other experiences that I can compare this one to. Now I gave it 2 stars because it seems like there is something wrong with the movie, it stutters. Not all the time, but in almost all the scenes when there is a camera (or angle) change, then I can notice like a flicker or a 1 sec lag (during the transition) and it is really annoying. Like I said I have tested other 3d movies (Alice in wonderland 3d, Imax Grand Canyon adventure) already and this is the only one that I have experienced this issue with. The 3d effect is not very impressive either, not a lot of pop out effect and even in some scenes not much depth effect.Good thing is that you can play this title in 3d bluray, normal bluray, dvd and it also comes with access to an online digital version. If you're a fan of the series you might definitely want to pick this one up (add it to your collection) and watch it in any of the preferred formats provided. If you're looking at it only for the 3d effect (like I was) then I would recommend skipping it and look for another one with better reviews (as far as the 3d effect goes).

Another Franchise Bites the Dust . . . With A Lackluster Wrap-Up!

The latest entry in Lionsgate's "Saw" franchise" is gruesome enough tomake the grade. Unfortunately, "Saw 3-D" is a poor way to pack in alandmark horror series. When the original "Saw" came out in 2004, itnot only established new standards for horror movies in general but italso gave rise to the 'torture porn' genre. Although "Saw 2" through"Saw V" often generated greater quantities of blood, sweat, body parts, and tears than the original, the grisly franchise lost its edge until"Saw VI." "Saw VI" furnished blood, gore, and more—principally cogentsatirical commentary about our economically depressed times—like acherry atop a heap of manure. "Saw 3-D" boasts only one top-notchscene, but even it is flawed. "Saw VI" scenarists Patrick Melton andMarcus Dunstan conjured up a worthwhile premise, but "Saw VI" directorKevin Greutert botched the execution. The 3-D effects are at bestmediocre. Aside from Costas Mandylor, the thesping in "Saw 3-D" isbarely memorable. Sean Patrick Flanery of "The Boondock Saints"registers inadequately as a self-help guru who survived Jigsaw'snightmare torture and published a tome entitled "Survive." Again, thepremise is imaginative, but Flanery's performance comes off as woefullyweak. "Saw 3-D" qualifies as the most immaculate where set design isconcerned. One of the virtues of the original "Saw" was that itoccurred in an ugly, filthy room. We were fortunate because we didn'thave to smell the stench that permeated that old, disused men's room. After watching "Saw," anybody in their right mind would want to scrubthemselves until their skin shined bright and pink. Those surroundingswere so vile that you would be afraid to touch anything. "Saw 3-D"lacks the sordid but atmospheric surroundings. The victims here die fartoo cleanly. Only one gets cooked alive in an oven like a chicken. Theothers are either perforated or sliced up. It wasn't enough that thevictims died horribly in even the lesser "Saw" sequels, but they had todie in incredibly slimy surroundings."Saw 3-D" brings back the physician from the original. Dr. Gordon (CaryElwes of "Robin Hood, Men in Tights") is back, and we learn how hesurvived. Remember Gordon cut off his foot with a hack saw andslithered out of the room. Here we get to see Jigsaw (Tobin Bell of"Mississippi Burning") splash water onto Gordon's face and get him outthe door. Gordon cauterizes his stump on a scorching steam pipe.Imagine the pain as well as the willpower that he experienced.Meanwhile, Detective Hoffman is up to his usual murderous antics.Desperately, he wants to silence Jigsaw's wife Jill (Betsy Russell ofthe cult hit "Tomboy") who wants to talk to Internal Affairs about him.Simultaneously, an Internal Affairs cop, Gibson (Chad Donella of "TheLong Kiss Goodnight"), and his Africa-American partner Rogers (newcomerLaurence Anthony of the TV series "The Border") struggle to keep Jillalive and get the goods on Hoffman. While all of this is unfolding,Melton and Dunstan serve up their most tantalizing storyline. What if aman, Bobby (Sean Patrick Flanery), who survived Jigsaw, went on apublicity tour to tout a book about the nightmare experience and helpother victims? Just as previous "Saw" chillers punished the insincereand often gave the despondent a new reason to live, "Saw 3-D" putsBobby through a ringer without comparison. The villain puts everybodynear and dear to Bobby in jeopardy with formulaic consequences. Peopledie that we have no sympathy for at all. The way that they die isgruesome, but it isn't as unsettling as the original "Saw." "Saw 3-D"is far from fun, if such an experience can be described as fun. The film's best scene is a cheat, at least until the victim makes thewrong move. Our villain takes out his rage on the least politicalcorrect offenders that society frowns upon with little remorse:racists. We are only told that they are racists. Of course, they arewhite and their demise is incredibly dismembering. Four racists—threeguys and one gal—are confined to a garage. The leader is seated behindthe wheel of a vintage El Camino with his back super-glued to the seat.Just beyond his reach on the far side of the windshield wipers is abraking mechanism that he has a painfully limited time to grasp. If hedoesn't grasp it in time, not only will the car—poised on jackstands—crash to the floor with wheels whirling at high speeds andobliterate the leader's girlfriend, but it will also race toward thegarage door where his buddy is chained up while jerking the chainsbound around his other friend's arms, including a giant steel bucklepiercing his tongue and jawbone. Mind you, the people that make thesemovie want to put us—the audience—in the worst kind of peril. Moreover,as an audience, we can accept it and cringe at it if we realize thereis no escape. Indeed, the racist leader panics and everything goessouth. A smart person would have either hit the seat release betweentheir legs which would have propelled the leader to within his arm'sreach of the braking mechanism. Or failing that, he would have leveredthe seat forward to clinch the device. Nothing is more anticlimacticthan an imbecilic victim, and the racist leader and his friends pay forthe consequences of their wickedness. "Saw 3-D" opens with a lame bitof torture gore that serves up poetic justice. The second best sceneturns out to be a nightmare, but it takes advantage of the 3-D. Thefinal scene where Dr. Gordon flings a hack saw at us lacks visualpiazza. Everything has three dimensions, but the filmmakers don't takeenough advantage of the format. Director Greutert and his scribes couldrevive the franchise based on the ambiguous ending, but the "Saw"series definitely dulled its razor edge with his routine entry. Theseminal Lionsgate franchise deserved a better send-off.

Delivers the goods, but the 3-D is a joke

Yes, if you're a true 'Saw' fan, you'll get your money's worth. But thesame can't be said for the 3-D aspect, because the 3-D parts are fewand far between. Basically, it's just an advertising gimmick (I had thesame problem when I went to see "My Soul to Take" a couple weeks ago,and for all the other 3-D movies I've seen in the past 3 years; I haveyet to see a 3-D movie that's impressive and offers a lot of it). Inthe trailer, we were promised that we would experience the traps. I'msorry to say, the movie offered none of that. I wasn't reallydisappointed, considering it was just a way to get us to see it. Some3-D movies offer little of it, and some, sadly, offer none of it(animated movies, for example). So if you plan on seeing this picture,I'd suggest you look for a theater that is showing it in 2D, or waituntil DVD (if the version is available). And as for the story, thisinstallment, unfortunately, turns into a slasher movie near the end.Talk about a cheat! Story: *** out of ****3-D: * out of ****

Kind of bad... no, wait. REALLY bad.

I never have felt so bitch slapped in my life.I lined up to see this at 6 PM on opening night with my girlfriend, whohad never seen a Saw movie before. She loves horror and gore though, soI took her. Aside from a dew jump scenes which made her jump, she hatedthe film altogether. As for me, the one who has seen every Saw movie? When my dad and I went and saw Saw 3 in the cinema, we loved everysingle second of it. We had seen every movie until that point, and itwas really something to behold. Upon walking out of the cinema, weagreed that 3 was the best, and that the series should should end rightthere. That apparently was supposed to happen, however Lionsgate hadplans to lay back and get rich off the film's success and make aboutlike 500 sequels. So, like any completist, I went and saw every other film. 4 wasabsolutely horrid, it was essentially just a remake of the third movie, but just with some unlikable puke who is obsessed with saving people.5... I can barely remember that movie, it was s bad. However, 6 wasGREAT!!! it was a needed return to form for the franchise. I loved it,and so with all that said, I had high hopes for Saw 7.Looks like I owe myself a big kick. The big appeal of Saw 3D is, as expected of any movie shot in 3D orwith 3D in the title, the 3D. It was shot with James Cameron's 3Dequipment. And if you're thinking what I'm thinking, then were on thesame page here: 3D and Saw go together like peanut butter and cheese. However, I went and saw it, because I like a good 3D horror movie. Itcan always be fun.The film opens with the worst title cards for a Saw movie ever.Seriously, I hate it when people try to Look all cool and big right offthe bat, and this is one of those moments. Then we get a recycling ofclips from the first movie, and then the worst trap beer, the windowtrap. Where everyone watches. Alright, Jigsaw would never do this, problem one. If Hoffman is so faithful, why would he deliberately goout of his way to disobey the orders Jiggy left him?! And that windowtrap was bloody stupid anyways. I can't remember much except two guysfighting over one girl and they get her killed. No, seriously, this isstupid. Note to the writers: STOP TRYING TO BE BETTER THAN JAMES WANAND LEIGH WHANNELL.Then right after that, we get the worlds most pointless trap ever, thecar trap. First off, why was it there? Who is Chester Bennington? Thattrap was pointless and stupid, and is what the nostalgia critic wouldcall, a big lipped alligator moment. As one of the robots on MST3Kwould sarcastically remark when panning a b movie, "and the reason thispart works so well is because we care about the characters!" if arandom trap is going to be brought in, it should have a purpose, likethe opening trap of Saw 6.The plot then spirals downward into some silly bullshit about a selfhelp guru who apparently lied about being in a Jigsaw trap. The twistwas made obvious when the scene where John confronts him during thebook signing. I get the message about fabrication, but it was done asbout as subtly as being smacked across the face with a bible. Alright, first off, while I love Sean Patrick Flanery (he is indeed veryhandsome and a great actor, case in point the Boondock Saints movies),the baby faced dude has no place in a Saw movie. His acting stinkshere, it's not like I expected him to care for his character since itwas so poorly done anyways. The traps are stupid and have absolutely no logic. Alright, Bobbysfirst trap, the cage... SERIOUSLY?! Hoffman is apparently brutal andwhat not, and so he has some lame bullshit about spikes and a cage? What the actual Frak? Or the silence circle. Ooh, spikes in the neck, how disgusting! Or the tooth pulling trap... Or the weight of death, blah blah blah. The one trap that has any suspense whatsoever is thedeafening mask. That trap was scary and actually seemed to make sense. It was one of the few scenes in the film that actually made sense. As for Dr. Gordon? Should have stayed presumably dead. Prt of what madethe sequels great was the mystery behind his being, and this film ruinsit all. So yeah, he cauterizes the wound as he makes his escape andJigsaw appears and says "oh you're my favourite, so I'm gonna make youmy REAL apprentice. Again, defeating the purpose. By god, what were thewriters snorting?! Him being an apprentice made as much sense as mehaving any connection with the royal family. At the end of the day, a total waste of time. Apparently this was to bethe last Saw movie ever, And while I hope that's true, the rather looseended finale of this film makes it seem that that's unlikely.

It was a good movie that tied the saw series together.

The Saw Series has now ended and everyone knows what happened and ifyou watched the movies you weren't surprised but rather excited youfigured it out. I was very into all the Saw movies and watched them allmany times each, trying to figure out where it was going. The secondmovie with the guy with the key beyond his eye gave the ending away tothe last movie pretty noticeably. It was great that they were able toput so many clues through out all the movies and really tie themtogether in the end. Even though the story was good I think they neededto just relax on the blood and guts. I mean I am all for making it hasgross as you possibly can and making people cringe in their seats butthey took it to far again and it was so unrealistically bloody. So Isay if you are a Saw fan go see it for sure and if you really like theblood and you like the feeling of getting chills and cringing go andsee it. I gave this movie a 6 out of 10 because as an over all movieits nothing great, the movie its just another average movie.

Game Over.

SAW 3D brings a slowly declining franchise to an understandable andcompelling close, at a time when even fans of the series were perhapsbeginning to tire of Jigsaw's gruesome games. In doing so, the majorityof 'gaps' in the storyline were eliminated, and the franchise wasgranted a degree of closure... which will, of course, be ruined shouldSAW VIII plans be green-lighted. As ever (and unfortunately it's become all too formulaic), thisparticular outing presents us with a master-trap, which ultimately hason effect whatsoever on the overall story-arc, and only serves tosatisfy some of those less intelligent viewers with underwhelming bloodand guts. With that being said, the traps remain effective andimaginative, and cannot entirely be written off as entertainment, depending on your tastes. And the storyline too is of course developed further... followingHoffman's survival of the reverse bear-trap, he goes in search of Jill. But, alas, Hoffman has fast become an unpleasant and detestable leadcharacter... whereas Jigsaw couldn't necessarily be regarded as an out-and-out villain, and therefore presented the viewer with a conundrum,Hoffman is just downright unpleasant. All the same, it's the ending which makes SAW 3D worth watching. It'sthe perfect end to the franchise, in many ways, and I do hope thatfurther inferior sequels don't occur. If you've enjoyed the series thusfar, and aren't bothered by one or two effects which are literallypresent for the sake of 3D, then this film is recommendable. At the very least, it's better than SAW V.

A die hard fan

This review is from: Saw: The Final Chapter (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Formerly Saw 3D) (Blu-ray) Saw movies have not disappointed me yet and the final sealed the deal. I have read many critics on different topics but the truth is if you are looking for flaw then you will find it. I have enjoyed every Saw movie and I enjoyed the Final just as much as the rest. This is why I probably own the whole collection.

Can't be the end...

This review is from: Saw: The Final Chapter (Amazon Instant Video) ...as with all of the Saw films, this movie left me wanting more. I truly hope it's not the end of the series. Especially if it means seeing more of Costas Mandylor! The man is a great actor and really brings a chill to the character of Hoffman. If it was truly the end, I will cherish this series of films as a great testament to horror history. Thank you to Lionsgate and everyone involved in Saw for this tremendous series.
