...a well-crafted film on all levels.

Theoretically, this movie could have been great. No, not just great, amazing. The premise was quite promising, being that using Source Code, the protagonist could kind of infiltrate a recently dead person'smemory and observe and interact with the environment the person was in.Interesting, no? The idea had some potential, but leave it to Hollywoodto take a huge dump on anything with a potential. The movie is ridden with so much instances of absurdities and nonsense,it almost becomes hilarious at certain points. Firstly, the romancebetween the two leads ie Jake Gyllenhaal and Michelle Monaghan. Believeme when I say this, Jake falls in love with Michelle's character afterspending about...oh, I don't know... 4 minutes with her! I mean, seriously, wow! They have absolutely 0 % chemistry and by God, anyparts in which try to establish their relationship and immenselypainful to watch. And then there's the thing with his dad. We'resupposed to feel sorry for him or something because.... they didn'tmeet each other for a long time...? But we never see any interactionbetween Jake and his dad. Heck, we don't see his father at all. Wedon't know anything about him. Why should we care at all? Oh whatever, the main plot involves Jake trying to find a bomber on thetrain. I just love how he tries to find out who did it. By randomlygoing up to people and threatening them. Classy, ain't it? Anyways, theperson who turned out to be the bomber will probably be obvious to theaudience less than half an hour into the film. And the whole concept ofthe 'twist' thing towards the end is so moronic it hurts real bad.Other than that, the special effects aren't good for this day and age,Russel Peters' role is absolutely pointless as he doesn't even get totell one proper joke in the whole movie. What a waste. Of course at HQ,we also have the angry commanding officer, the sympathetic female andthe bland white nerd all doing their respective generic jobs. Nothingyou haven't seen before.Seriously, this is a very nonsensical film. Maybe just a tiny bitentertaining, but really doesn't matter when you realize that prettymuch every other second in this film is inane and laughable.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars in a new mind-bending thriller about a formersoldier from Afghanistan who goes on a mission through a source codeprogram that lets him go back in previous events in his own alternateuniverse, only this time, he has to prevent a dangerous terrorist bombin a train ride. Throughout the movie, he always has to go back andforth to the same location, from finding the bomb in the train, to theidentity of the bomber, over and over. "Source Code" is exhilarating, and entertainingly thrilling, and it's one of the best movies this yearso far. Jake Gyllenhaal brings one of the best performances of the yearwith his charisma and sense of realism. Michelle Monaghan makes anexcellent portrayal, and Vera Farmiga did an excellent job in the movieas well. Duncan Jones did a magnificent directing duty, and brought amovie this year that blew me away. The film editing is so awesome, because it happens so unexpectedly. The cinematography is superb, themusic is thrilling, and the visual effects are like no other I haveever seen before. But the only problem with this movie is that it was93 minutes too quick, and it looked like a movie that people wouldusually spent 2 hours watching, and that was unexpected. The rest of"Source Code" is crystal-clear perfect! If you enjoy watching thrillersthat mess with your mind, go see "Source Code". The suspense isthrilling, the cast is superb, the directing is top-notch, and thefinale blends perfectly with enough shock and surprise. "Source Code",in my review, "a thrilling motion picture, filled with unexpectedtwists and turns".

Clever and quasi-intelligent...given the fairy tale premise.

Source code is one of those few action/sci-Fi movies that workeffectively without exaggeration or embellishment. When we see SourceCode we see the certain resemblance it has with ''Déjà Vu'' with DenzelWashington but Duncan Jones, with his own talent his own style preventthat from happening. Source Code has is own method and approach, whichis quite entertaining and enjoyable. This movie is certainlyrecommended for all the action-junkies because this has all to be a''Summer Hit'' which confuses me, why hasn't this opened in June orJuly, it had the potential and the content of an ''Summer''blockbuster. Jake Gyllenhaal is not your typical action hero, since buthe really pulls everything off really well. Michelle Monaghan and VeraFarmiga are both absolutely gorgeous women with talent. On the wholeSource Code is pure entertainment at its best.

"Source code" is shocking film. The shocking in all senses of thisword. So high-quality movie that grasps the spirit. This film -individuality, bright stain gray weight cinema's plankton. It'sespecial, unique, with a highlight. Exist many movies in which follow the idea: "life is beautiful, and wehave to accept it as it is". But in the "Source code" this thing isshowed somehow in especial way, ambiguously, if I can say so. This isvery important because when you watch this idea is expressed simply andit's banal, the idea don't take rood to you. After watching just thismovie I understand that life such amazing with its failures andsuccesses. Life is life and any program like source code won't comeback it. You can make its illusion but not real. This is because wehave to appreciate it. This is sense. The movie haven't made to trifles but it doesn't matter. JakeGyllenhaal is unbelievable. All the film turns around him. Hisperformance forces to feel unusual emotions and things. Duncan Jones isamazing and all people who made film.

"Source Code," his second film, deserves to launch him into the ranks of filmmakers who are trusted with big idea popcorn material, smarter than average and populist in its appeal.

"Source Code" is a twisty action-thriller with elements of "Inception" and "Groundhog's Day". Directed by Duncan Jones, this is an exciting and suspenseful film that is anchored by a terrific Jake Gyllenhaal. His performance alone, sells the story. When Mr. Gyllenhaal wakes up on a commuter train, he is in the body of another man. Initially confused, he slowly remembers why he is there. Sitting across from him is Michelle Monaghan, who once again plays the pretty love interest in peril. She has become quite adept at these roles and here, performs admirably. Apparently Mr. Gyllenhaal is a soldier taking part in a Government experiment to stop a terrorist from blowing up a train. As the audience, we learn along with him as plot points are slowly revealed. Overseeing the experiment is Vera Farmiga as his "handler" and Jeffrey Wright as the creator of the "source code". There is a lot of sci-fi mumbo jumbo as to how the source code works but even if it goes over your head, you can sit back and enjoy the ride. Beyond the four leads, the rest of the cast is fairly unknown so that makes figuring out the identity of the bomber all the more fun. Usually a name actor will make it pretty obvious but that's not the case here which really helps propel the story. I can't say enough how natural and believable Mr. Gyllenhaal is in the role of Colter Stevens. He really makes you root for the character and believe the situation, even when it gets fairly unbelievable.

Jake Gyllenhaal gives us another fine performance as a preserved military man who has eight minutes to work with in order to determine who is the terrorist on a commuter train in Chicago. Sounds outrageous, but somehow it all works in this film that only makes me wish that something like this could have prevented 9-11, but maybe it has prevented others? Quite the thought.

Source Code tells the story of our military using quantum physics to solve a crime that hasn't happened yet, but is linked to a disaster that has happened in our immediate past. In order to catch the terrorist, a soldier is sent back in time to occupy the body of one of the passengers killed on a communtor train to Chicago. Jake Gyllenhaal plays the soldier choosen because of special circumstances to go back in time, and in only eight minutes, find the the bomb and who planted it.The plot line resembles Ground Hog Day, one of my favorite movies, where the soldier must learn from his previous mistakes, until finally he completes his task and is allowed to stop going back in time. Source Code gives us more science to go with, than Ground Hog, which makes it quite believeable. The acting by Gyllenhaal is outstanding. We see him go from a scared and confused man, to one who grasps his environment enough to learn to control it. Vera Farmiga, who plays his communications link during the experiment, shows her conflicted emotions with the greatest of subtley, a real joy to watch.Lots of suspense, and lots for your brain to chew on, which is what I love about science fiction. Are we traveling towards this new reality as delve into the mystery of quantum physics? Do the decisions we don't act on played out on some cosmic stage in another reality? Just consider all the high-tech gear we marveled at in Star Trek and consider how much of it we use today, and Source Code seems like it could well be our future.

Smart yet simple enough to work on several levels.

Hey, this is the first time for me to write something but I justwatched a movie called Source code this movie made me have a littlethought with myself about what Kalter Stevens did and how he enteredthe last 8 minutes of another life of Seon that made me think how thisman used the repeatedly 8 minutes and what about us do we deserve thathe repeated the 8 minutes till he realized their value if you watchcarefully how the man used the last 8 minutes you will know what is thereal value of time, he thought that these minutes was the last of hiswhole life that what made him enjoy every and each second with doingthe right thing, save the world, having the girl, but we have to thinkof something that he have to live his life as another one who calledSeon so I have been thinking do I need to change my whole body tobecome a new man or have such a miracle to put my soul into anotherbody who is well build and knows a girl a beautiful girl that made youlook to her face and eyes when she smiles makes your eyes won't evenblink (they really know how to choose women in movies), what made meamazed is that the guy got another life for his soul after he finishedhis own physically, after this movie you say that that guy gone toheaven by this source code, So give yourself 5 minutes to think andevaluate what could happen when we leave our body, we will not go toanother body, that is it, we will be held accountable for what we donein our life, at that time you will think that you only lived for a dayor two or in this case 8 minutes so the point is how this movie willaffect you! will you just go on whatever you are doing or you will havea little thought to ask yourself .. How am I doing ?

For the techies and action junkies everywhere Source Code fills the bill. Story line premise is original and well excecuted. Synergy between characters works outstandingly well. It is a seat grabber with a snap you back to square one and try it again and again etc. Definately worth seeing on the big screen.

In conventional usage, "source code" is the programming language thatis human readable, which is converted to "assembly language" or "objectcode," which runs the computer. Commercial software firms never releasethe source code, and sell the binary object code, often at a handsomeprofit, think Microsoft Windows, for example. There are also Free andOpen Source programs, such as Linux, Fire Fox, Open Office, and otherswhose source code is universally and freely available to anyone.I went to this movie, thinking I would recognize some reference in thestoryline to "Source Code," as described above. I found none. Thecomputer program central to the plot was probably a top secret, andheavily guarded available to no one.Otherwise, it was an exciting, gripping movie, well acted and directed, with a satisfying conclusion.

This review is from: Source Code (DVD) I truly enjoyed this DVD. However, if you are like myhusband, and not a Sci-Fi fan, you probably won't. I'mglad no one had told me anything about this movie before Iwatched it. I just became so enthralled with it it was hard for me to break away from it and make my husband lunch. The cast chosen for this movie was perfect, in myestimation. And, the ending was PERFECT. Gave the viewerlots of ways to interpret its meaning! Hoorah for a jobwell done!!I purchased this DVD at Amazon.com and it was in great shape....no skipping or starting and stopping experienced.I've been purchasing both books and DVD's for myself andto give as gifts through Amazon.com and have always beenvery happy with them.

It's Jones' restrained direction that keeps Source Code moving, and confirms him as the rare filmmaker able, or maybe just choosing, to understand that even movies with explosions don't have to be dumb to entertain.

Most directors tend to stumble for their second film, others far exceedthem while Duncan fits nicely in between those two extremes and followsup his very impressive debut, Moon, with this well-executed thriller. While this is more mainstream than Moon was it doesn't make the filmany less thought provoking and exciting, if anything it exceeded myexpectations. Based on what the film industry is churning out recentlythis film particularly stands out for me.But all the credit shouldn't be down to Duncan. The script is reallywell written with some smart dialogue and a cleverly crafted story thatkeeps you guessing. Jake Gyllenhaal also gives a very convincingperformance along with a great supporting cast that overall will makethis film go down as probably one of the more underrated films thisside of the summer blockbusters.

This review is from: Source Code (Amazon Instant Video) I had expected something like Ground Hog Day because of the other reviews - and there was that aspect - but they also threw in a decent mystery to solve and some quantum physics on top. While not entirely unpredictable as a whole it had its own ending that worked very well.

Finally a movie worth writing a comment about. It was original and notsome three minute remake of an existing movie or a cookie cutter pieceof crap. I like the suspense and a cast of unfamiliar faces thatdoesn't have you thinking of the last movie you saw that super famoustype cast actor in. Keeping the how and what of everything thathappened before the opening scene makes for a good way stay interestedin this film. This movie had that 12 monkey's feel to it but verydifferent. Overall I like it and would recommend this to all who wantto spend there time with quality entertainment. I hope to see moreoriginal based movies produced, as hard as that is now a days.

The HP in the title is "high power" as I have to admit that this is onehell of a ride. The Groundhog day, Quantum leap scenario sounds onpaper as though it could be a worldwide bore but the excellence of JakeGyllenhall's acting puts you on a knife-edge of sweat inducing panicand the story telling is so fine that I applaud all involved in pullingoff what I dare to say is several feet higher in excellence than"Inception," another mind-bender. There I've said it and not been hitby lightning, "Source Code" is brilliant and a very satisfying trainride that I would quite happily pay again to see. Telling the story inthis review is inadequate, go and see it, again and again and againand... sorry, caught in a time loop somewhere in Chicago!
