Justice is Served

Not many book adaptions can fulfill the fans expectations, but this onecertainly did. FANTASTIC! This definitely was one of the best bookadaptions I have ever seen! The plot was amazing and was a fantastic story, filled withanticipation and excitement.Matthew McConaughey and Marisa Tomei were fantastic! Great on screenchemistry and McConaughey could do no wrong as Lawyer Mickey Haller. Not to mention Ryan Phillippe's eery and stunning role. The whole castwas perfect, including William H. Macy, whose supporting role was notonly emotional, but also funny and charismatic. This movie is definitely in my top three and I recommend it to all. Itis emotional when it needs to be, funny at the right moments, andfilled to the brim with suspense that will keep you on the edge of yourseat and guessing throughout the entirety of this phenomenal box officemasterpiece that deserves a definite 10.I believe everyone should watch this movie, whether or not you likesuspense, because this movie will change your mind. I have seen manymovies, but I have never seen one like this. A unique, one of a kindstory that will test your wit and mind. This movie will change the way you see lawyer movies. This is up therewith Matt Damon's Rainmaker.McConaughey deserves an Oscar or Academy for this one.One of the most incredible movies ever made. The director an production team definitely deserve some major kudos fortheir hard work that REALLY paid off.Justice has been served with this movie and sets the bar for allsuspense and law movies to follow.

Amazon Purchase - Lincoln Lawyer

This review is from: The Lincoln Lawyer (DVD) Excellent movie - well worth the money. We ended up paying even less than we thought which was great! Since we pre-ordered, it arrived just a day or two after the release.

A great surprise

Never been a fan of Matthew Mc., but this was a very good movie, and he was great in it. He needs to ditch the stupid rom-coms and focus more on films like this. An A-list, stellar supporting cast bolsters and raises this standard potboiler to a tense, exciting legal drama. Not quite as good as "Michael Clayton", but similar in tone and style.

Surprisingly great movie!

This review is from: The Lincoln Lawyer (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I watched this last weekend. It was interesting all the way through, no lags, and even though it's not an action movie you could feel the excitement in it. A few good chuckles. Matthew is becoming quite a "mature" actor and it shows in this movie. The combo set, DVD, Blu-Ray and Digital is a great idea. Getting 3 movies for one price was pretty decent. I have a Blu-Ray but most do not. I can let friends watch the DVD and even offer a free download to the techies.

A very lame adapted screenplay and not so good directing and editing

The white-washed, purified screenplay simply weakened the whole storyof the nicely crafted original novel written by Michael Connelly. Itpathetically avoided and omitted the most cruelty but also the mostshocking truth of this novel: The son was actuallythe masked culpritwho ruined his real-estate-broker mother. The movie also just water-colored the realistic and tough life of astruggling lawyer who did almost everything in a Lincoln Town Car. Thecasting was also not quite right on the money by signed up thebaby-face actor to play the role of the accused psychotic culprit, it'sjust too weak, but the actor who played the lawyer was a very goodchoice, very convincing and believable, while all the other casts, well, sadly to say, were just weaken too by the diluted screenplay. Ididn't find anything so suspenseful as when I read that novel and itssequel. Therefore, I strongly recommend that you read the originalnovel(s) instead of this lukewarm movie. Because it's 100 times better

Great Legal Film

This review is from: The Lincoln Lawyer (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I found the Lincoln Lawyer to be quite entertaining and relevant legal picture. Courtroom and legal movies for the most part I find interesting and are some of my favorite films of all time. I would not put this up against say 'a few good men' but there were many similarities. A very thick plot with a lot happening throughout so be sure to give yourself the entire 2 hours to watch it so you can understand everything that is going on. You might get confused if you miss even 5 minutes of it. Overall, if you are a fan of legal movies be sure to check it out.Peter J. Millerpeterjoemiller@gmail.com

The Lincoln Lawyer

Enter: Matthew McConaughey. In his best performance (behind A Time toKill). It is obvious he was born to play the lawyer. The next lawyer TVshow, they should cast McConaughey. With the watered down crap he'sdone for the past few years, it's amazing to see him in a good role. The Lincoln Lawyer is a brilliant movie about the flaws in the justicesystem, and one man who tries to correct them.I can imagine how some people would have issues with the pacing. Themovie moves along at a very fast speed. If you can pay attention anddigest all of the information quickly, you'll enjoy it even more.If you enjoy law movies, movies involving crime, movies with greatacting, then watch this.

Great movie

This was a great movie -- all the way through. And our favorite Matthew McConaughey movie. He's done other good movies, too, but we all think this might be our favorite.

Great Movie With A Twist

This review is from: The Lincoln Lawyer (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy) (Blu-ray) I loved this movie so much that I have started reading Michael Connelly books. They all seem to have a surprise at the end. I thought that the casting was excellent with great performaces by all.

Not a very accurate depiction of the justice system

I wish I could give this 3.5 stars...I feel three stars is a little bit low, as it was enjoyable and I will probably watch it again (I bought it before viewing). However, I don't think it really warrants 4 stars. As a fledgling attorney, I wasn't all that happy with the way the justice system is portrayed here (particularly the star attorney). I know he is meant to be a "hero" as he is lashing out at the bad guy and helping to free the innocent man, but I had a hard time liking him because of his methods. NOTE: I know this is probably a minority viewpoint, so if you don't think this will bother you, I would recommend it as a good watch. As as I said to my husband after the first 45 minutes or so "oh so many ethical violations"; whether he thinks he is doing the right thing or not, the main character commits numerous ethical violations at the beginning, and again at the end after he realizes what is really going on - I am tempted to play a game and see how many I can spot the next time I watch it. While this is not a bar to enjoying the movie (as I said I did enjoy the plot), I found it hard to like the main character because of it, and as an attorney I didn't appreciate the portrayal, particularly - and I find myself hoping there are very few attorneys like him. Furthermore, the story would have (in my opinion) been even more interesting if it had delved into how the legal system ACTUALLY handles such situations; it has happened in real life, and there are cases out there that the author could have utilized. "Truth is stranger than fiction", and has the benefit of being truth. While I don't think inaccuracy or "fluffing" of a character necessarily detracts from a movie or book, I think it did so here, at least for me. The story could have been done equally well (probably better) without such a sleazy main character.

McConaughey back at his best

The Lincoln Lawyer is the best Courtroom thriller to come out in years. The cast is amazing giving Mathew McConaughey his best role since A Time To Kill as Mick Haller the slick, street smart resourceful Defense Attorney who develops a conscience on his journey through this film. There are just enough twists and turns and nothing that's so absurd that you don't believe it.I thought it was first rate entertainment and something I could watch over and over.

EXCELLENT MOVIE!!

I just saw this movie and I can't say enough good thing about it. The acting was superb and it there wasn't a minute where you weren't happy with it. Matthew McConaughey has proven once again he's a fantastic actor, and the supporting cast was wonderful. If you can, by all means see this movie.

Twist and Turns

This review is from: The Lincoln Lawyer (DVD) Matthew makes a wonderful lawyer and quite surprising I realy enjoyed the movie. He really does make the show and the cast helped also as fine acting on their behalf. The story line is interesting and anyone who hasn't seen the movie it's a must. It's unusal and entertaining after the first 15 minutes, so tolerate that bit but after that it's a first class movie. The punchline is a marvel and If I say to much it will spoil the show which I don't want to do and ruin it for you, Worth buying and watching Robyn

Is it the Car or the LAWYER who's really the "HOT ROD"?!...

In 1955, a hit song came out about a "Hot Rod Lincoln". It referred toa car "souped-up" for racing purposes. In this movie, the car (ratherthan the lawyer) IS a Lincoln-- but it's the STORY & not the autothat's "enhanced" in performance… … The lawyer is Mick Haller (MATTHEWMcCONAUGHEY), & he operates out of a Lincoln Town Car rather than anoffice. Usually, he's driven by a street-wise black guy named Earl(LAURENCE MASON)… … Matt seems to specialize in representing "LOW-life"criminals, &, while the car is black, his favorite color is green-- asin getting his MONEY up-front before he does any work for the accused…… As he's about to go into court to represent someone, a bail-bondsmancontact, Val Valenzuela (JOHN LEGUIZAMO), clues him in to a possiblehigh-paying new client. That guy is Louis Roulet (RYAN PHILIPPE), who'sbeen accused of beating and an attempted rape of a woman… … Ryan is theson of a very rich real estate agent named Mary Windsor (FRANCESFISHER), & he is very adamant in protesting his innocence. In talkingto him, Matt brings along his old friend Frank Levin (WILLIAM H. MACY),his longtime investigator… … Initially, Ryan appears to BE innocent, since many of the Police Dept's "facts" (such as a knife recovered)appeared to exonerate him in the case. Further, the more Matt delvesinto the facts, the more he discovers "disconcerting" things-- like howthe woman charging Ryan has a history of involvement in prostitution, &there's the possibility she was trying for a large cash payout from hisfamily… … As the story evolves, we learn that Matt's father had alsobeen a lawyer, but that Matt is an "operator": Matt has a bunch of"SLIPPERY" ways about him, in that he sets-up things like falseincidents to cause Ryan's family lawyer to pay him MORE MONEY, & doesother "shady" things in how he operates… … Matt is good at working(taking advantage of) his "ins" around the area. One of those isProsecuter Maggie McPherson (MARISA TOMEI). It turns out, he'd had aDAUGHTER with her in the past, & he's actively involved in helpingco-parent the child (who lives with Marisa). He regularly goes to her(& others he knows) to try to get some "private" / advance informationabout cases… … Bit-by-bit, we learn that Matt had a history of seeking"EASY" ways of handling litigation-- such as trying for "plea bargains"& the like to get thru them. For example, rather than looking for factsto prove the innocence of client Jesus Martinez (MICHAEL PENA), hemainly sought out a reduced term that sent Michael to San Quentinprison… … But, the more Matt & William investigate Ryan's case, theworse Ryan looks. Despite Ryan's initial protestations, he might havebeen involved in one or more PREVIOUS attacks. And, since Ryan is"protected" by "attorney-client privilege" (which keeps facts &communication between them "private"), that "limits" what Matt can do &how he does it… … Matt is involved in other cases as he's handlingRyan's matter, & we learn some important particulars from how hemanages those. There are some elements that seem to "impact" on RYAN'Scase… The Police (in the form of Detective Lankford, played by BRYANCRANSTON) start to question Matt regarding a matter involving William,&, more & more, we start to feel that Matt is possibly being "PLAYED"by Ryan in his case… … Things start to "twist & turn" like crazy, withall kinds of "uncomfortable" essentials starting to THREATEN Matt &people he cares for… Things that seemed to be "clear" start becoming"murky" at best, & past MURDER cases start to impact everything that'sgoing on with Ryan & Matt… … Was Ryan telling the truth that he'd beenunfairly charged in his case?... When Matt finds out some"DISCONCERTING" facts, will be still be able (or willing) to properlyREPRESENT Ryan?... Will possible charges against actions by Matt impactwhat he's able to do?...… Can Matt live with "himself" if he's trying to defend someone hefeels is really GUILTY of charges?... Will Matt's family be at riskfrom his efforts to defend certain people charged with crimes?... CanMatt find a way to do what's "RIGHT" in a world of "wrongs"?!...… Matt has had a history of playing "surfer" type characters & makingPOOR movies. This film is NOT the Matt you're "used" to: he keeps hisshirts ON, & provides a really effective dramatic presence-- by far theBEST character & performance he's ever had… … The other actors are alsovery SUCCESSFUL & believable in their roles. There are loads ofsatisfying "TWISTS" in the story, where Matt has to "shift gears" inwhat he's doing & find a "NEW" way to achieve what he wants toaccomplish under the "guidelines" of the legal "system"… … I quiteliked the "nitty gritty" way the crime thriller was concocted &played-out-- to the point that I hoped there'd be some "SEQUELS"considered for Matt's character… … Thus, tho it may be hard to"comprehend", this McConaughey film is being given an enthusiastic 8.25out of 10 stars…(o_/\ = = = … ( ^ ) ...

masterpiece

An exemplary law-related movie, which combines uniquely an incredibledepth in plot, brilliant acting skills, portrayals of all kinds ofpersonalities, (some of whom undergo touching changes) as well asmoral, ethic and social issues. A cinematic masterpiece which managesto constantly beat and outdo itself by slowly unraveling the truth, which lies layers below the initially assumed one. The viewer is setinto a enigmatic story, from the very first and is not allowed to layback until the very last minute, as questions arise throughout theentire movie, all of which are answered perfectly. Tension and suspenseat their very best, numerous action-highlights and even more changes ofperspective. Perfectly constructed characters and an amazing insightinto the world of law and law-related conscience. the directors (infact, the author) plays with the viewer's mind as well as sense ofjustice / injustice, right and wrong. slight similarity to GregoryHoblit's "Primal Fear", if you have seen and enjoyed it, there is nodoubt you will be fond of this one too. Absolutely recommendable, absolutely worth watching. absolutely worth analyzing and discussing.

Solid movie - B+

Maybe more of a 3.8 or 3.9 than a 4.0. But - in this day and age - McFestus rounds up. Story - credible. Acting - good. Matthew M is not the same as the lead lawyer in the book, but his take is more than passable. Plot - interesting with enough twists and turns to keep one involved. William H Macy and John Leguizamo deliver with authority in their brief parts. Ryan Phillipe handles the spoiled young man part with aplomb. Almost as if he has done it before. It's a good solid effort.
