Too Bad That They Had To Open Their Mouth.

This was exciting and visually stimulating! The special effects were as good as any movie in the past several years. Unfortunately, the dialog was pretty awful! The acting was not much better! This happens so often when you rely to much on testosterone and muscle bound hotties! I guess it does something to their brains?

Best Series EVER!

I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this sequel! I have never seen a sequel that was better than the original. I could have watched that cast on mute! HOT HOT HOT!!

The best of the "Furious" films

Michael Bay could learn a few tricks from Justin Lin who directs his 3rd franchise hit. Lin brings back Vin Diesel as Dom who is clearly in charge of the operation once set free from a prison transport bus in the dynamite opening sequence. Most of the usual crew is back including Paul Walker and Jordana Brewster. They and a few others end up in Rio. Once there, needing money, they hook up with a local crime mob to heist a few high end cars. This sets up another remarkable stunt sequence that is as exciting as those usually reserved for James Bond movies. Before I get too gushy about the movie, let's get one thing clear. It is implausible, improbable, and perhaps even impossible. The acting isn't all that great, the plot is stupid and the science behind some of the stunt work ain't there. Yet, after being drawn in during the first 20 minutes, you're hooked. You will also see some of the best stunt driving ever. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Park your brain and settle in for the ride. This is the best of the "Furious" films...by a long shot.

The Summer Begins Now!

Well, color me surprised. The Fast and The Furious has not been aseries known for it's intelligence. Indeed, it's always been big, loud, and dumb. The original hit the right notes at the time of its release, appealing to many as a street racing film where few films has treadedbefore it. However, it's lackluster sequels failed to deliver. With theadrenaline rush of the original over and poor writing and acting allaround, the sequels were nothing more than a series of poor imitationsthat could never recapture the thrills of the first film. So, it's withsome surprise that Fast Five is arguably the best film in the series.Fast Five ditches the street racing that made it's name in favor forbeing a heist film. In this particular case, we pick up right fromwhere we left off, with Dom being busted out of his prison bus. Theythen flee to Rio where they take on a heist that goes haywire andeventually leads to the penultimate heist of the film. In the meantime, ruthless Agent Hobbs, who specializes in tracking and capturing people, arrives to catch out trio of outlaws. The film does a good job of notwasting any time and most of the serious moments are kept to a minimumin favor of heist scenes or action. And in the action department, thefilm delivers tenfold. Far bigger, louder, and more exciting than anyF&F film before it, action junkies should find themselves thrilled bythe impressive set pieces and testosterone-laced mix of car and footaction. Now, don't get me wrong, this is still a F&F film. This means that thescript is still pretty laughable and the acting leaves much to bedesired. However, with that said, it's still a bit improved here. VinDiesel still can't play up emotion very well, making his attempts atthe more serious scenes here a bit laughable. Paul Walker doesn't fairmuch better and, unfortunately, even as a main character takes a backseat to Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson. As action stars though, thesethree do a great job. In particular, the eventual confrontation betweenDiesel and Johnson is fantastic, with it being a brutal, WWE-esquerumble. The climactic scene alone is worth the price of admission.Though laughable, it's still an exciting, eye-popping scene that willleave you a little stupefied. Certainly, you have to suspend much of your disbelief with your film.If you can't do that, you'll just find this entire film laughable andof poor entertainment value. For those who can though, this is a veryentertaining film. And for fans, you'll certainly enjoy the film, witha well rounded cast from throughout the entire series coming togetherto pull off the impossible. It's definitely surprising to see that thefifth film in the series is the best, but I suppose that it's merelythe evolution of F&F. With enough money, talent, and by pulling out allthe stops, the franchise has finally capitalized on the over-the-topaspects that they had always seemed to go for. Suffice to say, actionfans with enough suspension of disbelief will enjoy this immensely.

no longer a car movie, this is a slick heist flick

This sequel has basically moved away from the core of the first filmwhich was about fast cars and slick driving into a pure seeminglyimpossible heist film. And I do have to say the way they pull of thewhole vault theft was pretty good. The plot is Dom, Brain, and Mia are living in Rio de Janerio and on therun. It starts out with a pretty good action of them along with someother bad guys stealing cars out of a moving train. I don't think Ibelieve that's possible, but it was still cool to watch. Any ways theseguys there are working with work for the drug lord criminal of all ofRio, Reyes. They take this car that Reyes wanted and it turns out achip was hidden in it that tells the locations of where Reyes hides hismoney.Mean while, the Rock plays a US agent hunting them down in Brazil. Domdecides to pull of the heists of all heist and sends for help, where weget some other characters from previous films. So, then we get to seeif the plan works.BTW, the whole part of 2 cars pulling a very heavy fault down thestreet and racing was very silly. No way that is possible, but it wasstill entertaining.FINAL VERDICT: I like impossible heist movies, so I give it a positiverecommendation.

Mindless fun

What can someone expect from the 5th "sequel", after not watching firstfour? Probably something bad, milked to the bone and totally dry. Well, this is not the case here. I'll probably watch all the "prequels"backwards, just for a different perspective. This movie is fun and ahuge slaughterhouse for the automobiles. Reminds me of The Wild Bunchonly because of the "body count", only here "poor" cars prevail in thepile. The movie is very watchable, dynamic, action packed and (despitemany obvious flaws in the plot) just OK. In these type of filmsdirecting and editing (beside special effects) is what counts and thatpart of the job is well done. The only time when I actually mentionedsomeone "acting" is when Dwayne Johnson pops up. That man, bearing hismuscles as more of a curse in life than a blessing, is highlyunderestimated as an actor (watch Faster and you'll see what I mean).Others just pass through the scenes not even trying to do anything butto have fun themselves. If you have approx. 130 minutes surplus forsome passive entertainment, go and watch this one. Don't expect. Justenjoy the ride.

Mexican's were are you living

I watched the movie today, apart for some childish action anddestroying of entire Mexico's capital with just 2 cars and 9 guys itmakes one think that is Mexico a pathetic country where entire policeforce is unable to stop a single money heist? Tugging of a containerwith two cars and rampage the entire city is too much fantasy thatanyone can laugh about it and say Mexican's please wake up and dosomething about your country otherwise you will be perished in thisworld. Reviews should be logical and not that it s a good movie or abad one. Mr Vin Diesel is just pulling up the legacy of first movie. For a teenager it might be a good movie but after watching thousands ofmovies this looks quite sub standard and useless activity to watch amovie and waste money and time, where there are good movies that can beviewed.

The best of the series and one of the best car chase films ever

It's been a long time since the Jason Bourne Triology that I could be so fascinated by an action movie. The beautiful scenes of Rio, the ultra charming cast (all men and women look like catwalk models), the not too stupid storyline and most importantly the superb though much exaggerated car chases add up to the most entertaining of all 20+ movies I saw this year. Really looking forward to Fast 6 as hinted by the ending scene. In short, a must watch for all action movie fans!

Liked!

This review is from: Fast Five (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging) (Blu-ray) It was a decent movie. Not sure if all the hype had me expecting more. For the most part, it's an action packed flick with some cool rides. Liked the twists and turns in the storyline and the ending after the credits. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Great for the action, but as depicting Rio scene...

This review is from: Fast Five (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo + Digital Copy in Blu-ray Packaging) (Blu-ray) Don't get me wrong, I love the Fast and Furious trilogy, and I understand that the movie has what we call in Brazil: "the artistic right" to show things a bit different for the sake of a better result, but when you see the movie, please consider:- Rio Police cars are not Mustangs, Camaros or anything closer...these cars are way, way, way too much expensive in Brazil than they are in US, therefore you need to have some good cash to afford having one of those.- Yes, there is a lot of corruption in Rio Police, and the idea of a safe like the one depicted by the movie would only be feasible if it was sponsored by that guy...no, I'm not going to tell it...see the movie ^^. But anyway, it was a nice catch: I would never think about it...- If a "gringo" go to a favela and shows a handgun like that (well, first of all, he would never be able to get there the way he did...), no matter how big it is (the gringo and the gun)...he will LOSE it there...and get killed, of course (not necessarily in this sequence). So kids, don't try it there, OK?! Well, I've got a lot of fun watching the movie for the action, and laughed a lot remembering the scenes and writing down this review. It it great fun for everybody though.

Best of the "Fast" Series

Fast Five is a terrific action movie with a well written script. Theaction scenes are the best in the entire Fast series and I rate theFast Five a solid 10 stars. For sheer thrills and edge of your seataction don't miss this movie. Romance is kept to a minimum, a must foraction movies, and the next chase, gun fight etc. is just a coupleminutes away. The 110 minutes on the screen went by in a flash, anotherindication of how great this movie is. I've been to movies where 2hours seem like 2 days. D Johnson really held up his part of the movieand was very believable in his DSS (FBI) like role. BTW I usually don'trate the movies I really like above a 7 or 8 stars, but Fast Fivedeserves the entire ammo belt load of 10 stars. If you like action pics(duh who doesn't) SEE THIS MOVIE!

Fast Five is supercharged and running on NOS

After the horrendously disappointing sequel that was 2fast 2furious, myhopes of reliving the excitement and energy of the original weredashed, quicker than Dom could push the NOS button on his pimped outcharger.Tokyo Drift was refreshing, and Fast and Furious was a step in theright direction. I'm so glad then, that Fast Five has resurrected mylove for outrageously overpowered cars driven by super-models speedingto hyper techno low bass music. This movie rocks.Of all the movies in the series, it is by far the most action-packed.Explosions, car chases, free-running, you name it. It keeps you on theedge of your seat, and occasionally it will throw you off it.The acting has improved, which is to be expected, since most of theactors have gained experience since the first installment. Adding TheRock as an antagonist to Vin's character was a smart move. It kept thefilm fresh, and built up tension between the characters. The only problem I have with this film is it's lack of focus on thecars themselves. Don't get me wrong there are enough cars in the filmto fill Jay Leno's garage, but I wish they would incorporate a deeperlevel of interest in the cars, and not just the characters. But besides that minor issue, you will love this film, it's full of newideas, and it even has a twist to boot, something I was not expecting.Fast Five goes back to the original formula, tweaks it a bit, andblasts it back in your face.Highly recommended9/10.

Best since the original.

"Home sweet home" utters Diesel's beefcake criminal Dom Toretto toWalker's baby-faced ex-cop Brian O'Conner as they sit in Toretto'ssouped up muscle car ready to race along the streets of Rio de Janeiro. There's more than a hint of irony in this; fans of the Fast franchisewill know exactly what Dom means. The sequels spawned from the highlysuccessful first film have been a mixed bag appealing to differenttastes. Some have been mildly entertaining in their own way, but theone major issue they've all shared is a lack of recurring charactersand follow-on narratives. 2009's Fast & Furious partially rectifiedthat by having the main four from the original movie return, but it'sthis fifth entry that really starts to bring the whole series together. There's supporting characters from every instalment featured here –Matt Schulze's Vince from number one; Tyrese's big-mouthed Roman andLudicrous' Tej from 2 Fast 2 Furious; Sung Kang's charismatic Han fromTokyo Drift; and Gal Gadot's sexy Gisele from F&F – with a post-creditscameo to cap it off. Scribe Chris Morgan has obviously done hishomework as, in addition to the 'who's who' line-up of co-stars, thereare references to the previous movies (and characters that don'tappear) and he introduces subplots that help build on earlier storylines. This integration of the Fast universe, along with themarvellously tongue-in-cheek mood, notches up a level of interest notbefore seen in the car-crazy franchise. After taking a new course with Tokyo Drift, and failing to impress withFast & Furious, filmmaker Justin Lin has well and truly ignited theseries with exciting set pieces and lashings of well placed humour. Hestill struggles to effectively call the shots when exposition (or mereconversation) is required; however he clearly has a handle on shootingthe various fast-paced action scenes. There is a spectacular heist ofluxury cars aboard a train (with a marvellously ridiculous denouement);a Bourne-esque free-running chase along roof tops; and a bruisinghand-to-hand melee between The Rock and big Vin.Of the major stars, it's Fast newcomer Dwayne Johnson who shines thebrightest. His epic bad-ass cop makes Toretto look like an absolutesissy, which is no easy feat. He also boasts many of the film'sgreatest lines and comes away looking the least corny – somethingDiesel and Walker are evidently use to by now. The chalk and cheesepairing of the two wannabe action stars brings with it a decent slab ofshonky acting. Chrome-domed Diesel is especially silly and unconvincingwhen required to open his mouth, but he looks good behind the wheel ofa car and adds plenty to the unapologetic macho atmosphere. Thanks to Morgan's decent script, Lin's solid grasp on the action andJohnson's tough-as-nails turn, this latest addition to a franchise thatappeared to be running on fumes has just stepped on the gas.3.5 out of 5 (1 - Rubbish, 2 - Average, 3 - Good, 4 - Great, 5 -Brilliant)

Completely in love

This review is from: Fast Five (DVD) I own all the fast and furious movies, and I preordered this one. I loved fast five in the theaters, so I had to get this one for myself too!

awsome

This review is from: Fast Five (Extended Version) (Amazon Instant Video) has to be the best in the series so far. the rock was an excellent addition to the crew the fight between him and Vin was terrific. had a nice way of bringing together all the movies in the series by bringing in memorable charters from all the movies. a must have for any fan of the series. cant wait for the next one

Not the best but it wasn't the worst

Great movie but didn't close up to the expectations. As usual the basecast was great. Vin Diesel was awesome as expected. The rock wasrocking in the movie, his character matched his true personality. As inthe previous movies stunts performed were mind boggling and full ofthrill, can't wait do do them myself. Cool and solid cars as inprevious movies. Chicks wearing bikinis and riding hot bikes. Has someirrelevant superman fighting sequences but what about it every movieneeds it. Good casting everyone fits well in their characters. Full ofawesome stunts from the start to the end. One can never fall asleepwhile watching such a movie. The heist plot is very difficult topredict till the end which keeps your mind on the movie and not on thechick on the next seat. Full of thrills and twists. Not the best ofFast And Furious, seen better but still a must watch as the previousflicks...

Easily the best of the series and very fun and exciting to watch. Not many car racing scenes, which I liked. I say B+

"The guys we're after are professional runners. They like speed and areguaranteed to go down the hardest possible way so make sure you've gotyour funderwear on. We find 'em we take 'em as a team and we bring 'emback. And above all else we don't ever, ever let them get into cars."After breaking Dominic (Diesel) out of the jail bus Brian and him moveto Rio to start a new life of robbing and stealing. After Brian getsnews that makes him want to stop running the team decides to pull offone last heist. I have never been a real big fan of the series. Theyare good but have mostly been "I have car...I go fast." The fourth onewas the best because it actually had a story to it. Then I saw thisone. Far and away the best of the series so far. For those that watchedthem for the racing I should warn you, there is only one scene in thisone. This one was more in the style of "Oceans 11" then a "Fast &Furious" movie. I'm not sure if the sixth one they are making isneeded, but like all movies lately they will make them until they makeone too many...then the remakes start. That reason aside this is a veryfun and exciting heist movie very much worth watching. Overall, Isurprisingly liked it a lot and highly recommend this. I give this aB+.Would I watch it again? - I think I would, I can't say that about theother four.*Also try - Fast & Furious 1-4 & Takers

Popcorn Fun

I went with a certain amount of trepidation, but I came out of thismovie impressed with action. Sure, the plot is below average and thedialogue is laughable but I really didn't expect either to be good. Therefreshing thing is that there is real dialogue, forced but real andthey punched up the fun all the way through. Bottom line - see thisbecause it is a fun action movie with enough cars and fun to make thepopcorn go down easy. It may not keep you on the edge of your seat butit doesn't have to for the most part.If you see this with the kind of low expectations that I had (heck, even if you're greatly anticipating this thing), I'm willing to bet(since I bet on everything) that you'll enjoy it.
