Twisted fun

"Horrible Bosses" exposes the hilariously corybantic lives of threebest friends who, for their misfortune but our grand enjoyment, havebeen assigned to work for the most unimaginably cruel and utterlyderanged bosses known in the entire job market. The film then entanglesthe survival stories of these three working victims into a comedic messby ingeniously sowing the trio of tyrants into one humorously chaoticfrankenstein that is treble the trouble, treble the frenzy andundoubtedly treble the laughs. Furthermore, the perfectly chosen castinarguably earns the coveted hilarity raise by incorporating theirnatural talents of inducing unstoppable laughter with their every lineof dialogue and facial expression. Basically, "Horrible Bosses"materializes the daydreaming thoughts of many, annoyed office workerswishing to dethrone their employers in a murderously twisted yetirresistibly funny way. Therefore, after conducting a thoroughevaluation, it becomes clear that "Horrible Bosses" is the best filmfor the job.

Who knew Jennifer was so funny???

You know a movie is good when days later out of the blue a line from a movie pops in your head and makes you crack up, if for no other reason buy the movie for the Most hysterical comment made by Jennifer Anniston making reference to how she broke her fingernail, I laughed so hard I nearly fell off my couch, she is not always in the best movies but she won me over in this one. Also Kevin Spacey and Jamie Fox were HYSTERICAL- actually, Everyone in this movie cracked me up. CLASSIC. Funny Funny movie, haven't laughed this hard since Hangover (the first one of course.) This is not a cute movie like "just go with it" (which I loved) and it is rather on the crude side, but it is SO MUCH FUN and guaranteed to bring a few belly laughs from its wonderful cast.

Hilarious!

I got a call from my fiancee telling me that this movie is this year's "Hangover".....I must admit, I was a little skeptical, but she was right. This movie is hilarious! Very good job. Always nice to see a funny comedy that doesn't have to be PG-13 because of marketing crap, just make it R-rated and good! They did that, and they succeeded. Great movie! Go see it if you haven't.

Horrible Movie-Can't Say Anything Else!

What could have been a superior black comedy about every white collarworkers dream disintegrates into a standard TV style movie thats longon raunch and foul language, and short on laughs. Before my review getspulled for "abuse",heres the basic premise. In a nutshell, some officeworkers deceide to murder their bosses cuz they feel that their liveswould be a lot better with them gone, then when things take a wrongturn, the desperation of the workers-and the screenwriter begin toshow. "Borrowing" elements of some of Hitchcocks best work, the storyquickly fizzles out as film takes the shortcut to predictability andmediocrity. . Cast is only so-so, but Kevin Spacey seems to bechanelling his "American Beauty" role. Bateman and others are quiteforgettable and Jennifer Aniston-possibly the worst non actress of thisdecade goes against type and plays a slutty skanky role that thedirector hoped would give this film some "balls", but all she seems todo is alienate and repel the audience even further. The only way Icould recommend this movie to you is to try to sneak into it at somemultiplex and wait until the film you really want to see starts, thatis, of course if you can find one that is actually worth seeing. If youremember the early 80s "Nine to Five" that movie pretty much had thesame premise as this with some funny fantasy sequences too. I'll leaveyou, dear readers to deceide which is the better one-think DollyParton. Thank God that I get to see these movies for free. Being acritic does have its rewards, but unfortunately I have not beenrewarded with any decent movies lately. If you must pay good money tosee this turkey- especially in this Obama economy -demand arefund!Another PU movie review from Lou!

This review is from: Horrible Bosses (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) (DVD) We have watched this three times already - once at the theater, then bought it on DVD and watched two more times! Not really for the kids, but a funny movie.

jokes are found within the concept

Despite what the trailers may lead you to believe, most of the timewithin the film really isn't spent establishing the murders. Instead, the jokes are found within the concept, giving the three actors plentyof time to entertain you. You're not watching three men plot to murdertheir bosses; you're watching three men ponder the plot of how tomurder their bosses. There's a fine distinction here, and the scriptdoes a great job of establishing the difference.Seth Gordon does a fantastic job directing here, adding a layer ofintensity to the dark subject matter. The script is nearly perfect, offering the right amount of dark and crude humor with a great amountof solid, unforgettable laughs.Outside of those two concepts, Horrible Bosses really shines in twogreat ways. The three stars of the film, Bateman, Day, and Sudeikis, have fantastic chemistry here. The three play off of one another insuch a manner that you can't help but laugh. Each is bringing adrastically different character to life (though arguably Bateman isstill playing the same man he plays in every movie), and theirinteractions are key to the audience enjoying the film. The group trulyworks well together, much like a great ensemble should, and we onlyhope a sequel is quickly green-lit.The other amazing component of the film is the supporting cast, whichcouldn't be more perfect. Spacey is clearly enjoying his dark, disturbing role as an office jerk, spending much of the film steam-rolling anyone who gets in his way. Every so often you can even catch aslight hint in Spacey's eyes that he's enjoying himself. Maybe a littletoo much.Colin Farrell completely disappears into the role of Bobby. Hisdespicable manners and attitude toward other human beings is absolutelyhilarious. He's nearly unrecognizable in the part, and it's fantasticto see a role where Farrell is out of his comfort zone.

Not as funny the second time

This review is from: Horrible Bosses (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) (DVD) I thought it was hysterical in the theater, so I bought it from Amazon when it came out. Sorry to say that it was not as funny the second time, although I still enjoyed it. I'll probably have to wait a few years to watch it again. It does have a lot of explicitly sexual language and images, which turns some people off.

5 big laughs in 90 minutes.....yeah, fired.

Why do so many movies resort to turning themselves into feature lengthsitcoms? Horrible Bosses is the latest movie to follow that trend, about three frustrated workers who all decide that the best way to dealwith their terrible bosses (Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston, ColinFarrell) is to murder them. They enlist in a local hit-man namedMothafucka Jones (Jamie Foxx) to help them work up schemes which willall end up blowing up in their own faces. It has a good premise whichhas the potential to be hilarious, so it's unfortunate when HorribleBosses just...isn't that. There's about a handful of hilarious scenesfrom beginning to end but the rest of the gags just fall flat or arejust flat-out embarrassing (just about any scene with Jennifer Aniston, what a waste of her talent). The plot doesn't go anywhere so it getsold quick, several talented actors are underused (Kevin Spacey & ColinFarrell), and the movie just wears out its' welcome long before thecredits begin to roll. And that is something I would definitely neverput on my resume. NEXT.Read more of my reviews here :)http://thatmovieblog-filmfannlv.blogspot.com/

Entertaining and Unpredictable

I feel bad to admit that it was slightly tedious towards the end, however only slightly. As a female, i loved the scenes with Jennifer Anniston who didcertainly surprise me by saying some of her lines without blushing. Thecharacter of Dale i feel was similar to the fat guy in the hangover. You can really begin to see where these guys are coming from and whythey hate these bosses (especially Kevin Spaceys character). And bothJamie Fox and Donald Sutherland played more minor parts, however, imuch appreciated their participation. However, they were all entertaining characters and I certainly couldn'tpredict this film. I feel satisfied that it ended well and and is agood solid production and also that Jennifer's breasts are definitelyreal :)

Horrible Bosses

This review is from: Horrible Bosses (+ UltraViolet Digital Copy) (DVD) Horrible Bosses was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time. I am sure all of us have had bosses like them at time or another. I certainly did have a boss who was horrible. There was no pleasing him.One reason I bought this DVD is because I LOVE Jennifer Aniston!!! I think she is one of sexiest women I've ever seen. If she was my boss, I would not run away from her. That part of the movie seemed unrealistic.I definitely reccommend if you want to laugh your butt off like I did.Horrible Bosses

Bosses, Though Horrible, Effortlessly Steal the Show

When a perfect storm of professional hell simultaneously envelopesthree close friends, a long night of drinking reveals their (somewhatsuspicious) path to enlightenment: violently wipe their supervisorsfrom the face of the planet and reap the rewards. Jason Bateman,Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis may enjoy top billing as the straightmen with devious motives, but the true heart and soul of this flick isin the hilariously exaggerated supporting roles of Kevin Spacey,Jennifer Anniston and Colin Farrell as the trio's vile,larger-than-life caricature bosses. Spacey is brilliant as thevenomous, capitalistic middle manager, a role he's had decades toperfect. Anniston's sex-crazed, blackmailing dentist is equallytremendous, while Farrell is barely recognizable as the selfish, partied out, comb over-laden incompetent. Though the plot stretchesthings a bit thin at times, it's got punchlines in excess and a handfulof rich, rewarding moments any nine-to-fiver will appreciate. Bestserved with a few beers and a roomful of loud friends.

Bad movie with an amazing Cast. What a waste.

I am sorry to say but I find it hard to understand American Humor. Themovie has jokes about Sex, Sexual Parts and very less spontaneity, despite having two Oscar winning actors and two Oscar nominees. Thestory is about three guys who hate their bosses. Fine so we all hateour bosses, whats new. The topic is great and I was expecting to blownaway. I was so wrong. The Characters are so unrealistic , A HOT! womanwho is sexually starved, A middle aged man who hates his Mr. Nice DAD,and and a Psycho who kills people who sleep with his wife. Wow I coulddo better than that. Do not watch this movie if you are expecting to beimpressed. SLAPSTIC CRAP!!!!!

I wish my dentist looked like Jennifer Aniston!

Let's be honest a lot of men would at that...and also let's be honestabout the fact that at one point in time we have all worked for or atleast encountered in the workplace the "horrible bosses" of thismovie's name sake. Case-in-point, myself...12 years in my job andinvariably I have seen some form or incarnation of the portraitspainted of the bosses, supervisors and co-workers in this hilariouscomedy! "Horrible Bosses" evokes a lot of the same feelings I had whenI watched the now comedy classic "Office Space" and its more subduedbut still good companion "Extract". I mean this as a compliment. Itjust killed me at how accurate a view of the people which populate anoffice or any other work setting, those movies captured. "HorribleBosses" easily accomplishes that same threshold.Sure, the nastiness of the antagonists is exaggerated and inflated, butthe kernel of truth upon which it is based is unmistakable! The cast isremarkable Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis are solid, but to meCharlie Day reserves the biggest portion of the laughs! He feels reallyoppressed and abused, a feeling that is amplified by his companions'outright dismissal of his plight at the hands of the nutty and crazyJulia, his boss (and one of the sexiest dentists I have ever seen...).He is a man that has been constantly walked over, mistreated and seenas a weakling and push-over, especially as he says because his goal inlife has always been to "be a husband".The movie's quality would have been seriously hampered had thesupporting cast been any less. Just seeing Colin Farrell's visage infront of my eyes solicits laughs, his entire appearance and demeanouris prime rate, and one can tell that he had a lot of fun with hischaracter. Kevin Spacey, well he is Kevin Spacey, always top-notch, andhere thankfully channelling some of the maniacal streak he displayed in"Swimming With The Sharks" another seminal take on workplace tortureand enslavement...LOL! Jennifer Aniston in this movie, is the JenniferAniston I would like to see more of in other movies. She is ballsy, crazy, demanding, weird, nasty, explicit and really, really horny, which makes for a hilarious character! Instead of doing all themindless and pointless romantic comedies she has made recently, sheshould perhaps focus more on these off-kilter roles, because they suither, again I don't mean this as an insult! Her turn in "HorribleBosses" was as good or perhaps better than Cameron Diaz's as thepot-smoking, sex-crazed, foul-mouthed teacher in "Bad Teacher".All in all a good comedy to go along with "Bad Teacher" and"Bridesmaids, and an over-all relief from the drone-like-assembly-linefeel of the Summer box office.

bad, bad film

For me and my girlfriend it was very painful to watch. Also there weresome 20 other people in the cinema and I heard maybe 3 faintlaughters..Most of the time I was under the impression that I'm watching one ofthose 1-minute chaotic totally-improvised self-made movies on youtube, only one that is 100 times longer and thus way beyond being bearable. There were only a few genuine jokes, and Charlie Day's monologues, while probably meant to be funny, were annoying enough to me wanting tofast-forward. Many one-worder lines, again, often found as commentsunder youtube movies, made it a really bad movie.I guess it was a favour to the makers of this movie on thewell-known-named actor's part to take part in it, but sadly, I couldn'tstop thinking that the movie would be MUCH better with only their shortappearances in it. Kevin Spacey's acting was sharp, to the point, amusing. There was too little of Collin Farrel's character, andJennifer Anniston's character was definitely under-scripted. It was badthe way it was delivered, I guess it could have been much better.I may have seen worse movies, but then again, this one was advertisedso much, that it deserves an even lower grade.

Where's the 'Don't Like' Button?

You see, Mark Zuckerberg and his crew wanted to keep things simple and amicable on facebook consequently not giving us the option of a 'Don't Like' Button...To that end, in order to communicate or display your displeasure with something in passing without issuing a comment is to ignore it...I guess in the final analysis this is the best course to take as it would eliminate cat fights and flames which occur on a regular basis anyways. But, I reiterate, But...if ever there were a need for the 'Don't Like' button it would be for the movie: Horrible Bosses. A real stinker of the highest order and a film that really had no reason to be made except for the money. Senator Jay Bulworth could not have said it better:"Ya know, you make violent films and you make dirty films and ya make, you know, family films. But, just most of 'em are not very good are they? It's funny, so many smart people could work so hard on 'em and spend all that money on 'em and make all that money on them. I mean, what do you think it is...it must be the money, huh? It must be the money...it just turns everything to crap"...I rest my case.

Not a laugh riot, but this is worth paying money for

I wasn't interested in the movie when I first heard about it. Thenimmediately after reading more about the plot, the movie appealed tome. It's an entertaining movie that lives up to its potential. KevinSpacey, of course, is a scene-stealer. If you find yourselfexperiencing deja vu watching his performance, then you might rememberhim in "Swimming with Sharks". Except he was the star. Colin Farrel isokay as the son of a dead boss. As for Jennifer Aniston's character, her performance is great, too. But I didn't think of this character asa boss. Just as an assistant. "Horrible Bosses" is very entertainingfrom start to finish, and not consistent in its second act. One of thebosses is killed by another, Another doesn't get killed like promised, and the third boss's story never gets resolved at all. But that doesn'tmake the movie any less likable.*** out of ****

Better than The Hangover!

Saw this movie when it came out in the theaters and have been waiting for the DVD release! This is pee-your-pants funny with an outstanding over-the-top cast. Is it a bit far-fetched? As Sarah Palin would say, you betcha...but most comedies are, and the cast pulls this story off with tongue firmly in cheek. Some of the A list talent in this movie (that are all playing second fiddle roles) are so far removed from what you'd expect is what really sets this apart from The Hangover. This is must see!
