The show is entertaining enough and I like the cast but unfortunatelyRachel Bilson just can't act. As the lead role, that's a problem. Shehas decent moments, but for the most part it is forced andone-dimensional. It's Summer Roberts (The O.C.) in the South.Definitely not believable as a doctor. The rest of the cast shouldsustain the show for awhile but I'm not sure this will last more thanone or two seasons. If you're looking for something light and easy to watch (a way to filla bored evening perhaps), this will do it, but it's nothing to writehome about.

Haven't been this excited about a new TV show since Gilmore Girls. Ilove this show. Great actors and a wonderful story line. I think thestory is going to be great. Enjoyed the first couple episodes. So farthe show has been fairly clean. I missed episode 1 but will watch itonline. The second episode was great though. Very good story line. Zoetakes over her fathers practice after he passes away. She later learnshe was her dad. Now she has to bring in 30% of the business to keep herjob. So far she's been a great asset to the community although theydon't know it yet. It almost looks like the same set used in Gilmoregirls but set in Alabama. I loved Gilmore girls so I'm expecting greatthings... Just saw that others said it's like Gilmore girls. The CW ison the right track.

I hopefully tuned in thinking we could see something authenticallySouthern, like "Steel Magnolias", or "Fried Green Tomatoes". Thisdoesn't even come up to the level of "The Dukes of Hazzard".Love the premise. But Unfortunately, this seems to be just anotherHollywood version of "The South". The clichés are abundant, from theBlonde with big red lips, the gossipy Southern Women, and the horribleSouthern drawls. The only thing authentic about this series is thepilot being filmed in Wilmington, NC. With future episodes being filmedin LA, I am wondering how it can can improve. I may watch again, with the hope of it getting better.

When I started watching this show I immediately thought of Everwood andMen on Trees. I knew Rachel Bilson from The OC and I thought she's a well enoughactress but unfortunately not in Hart of Dixie. I find her performancepretty stiff and cold. The show itself is full of clichés. People fromthe big cities are that way and people from the small towns are thisway. Hart of Dixie has no heart, it's just a copy.Well, when I'm bored I will keep watching. Maybe it gets a littlebetter over time but there are so many other shows to be watched thatare actually worth the time - so maybe not ;)

Simply put, absolutely charming. If you're not entertained, you mayjust have a heart of stone. Possibly the best thing on t.v. sinceNorthern Exposure. This is the first I've seen of Rachel Bilson so Ican't compare it to the other shows mentioned in other reviews. Sheadmirably carries the heavy load, with tons of absolutely flawlesssupporting players. The simmering animosity between her and thequintessential Southern Belle, Lemon, is priceless. Jaime King as LemonBreeland is absolute Southern perfection. She is the embodiment ofSouthern charm. Tough as nails, wickedly condescending, at times justplain mean. Then tragically vulnerable. You just want to hug thestuffing out of her!Darn near flawless,I can't think of how to improve the show. Perhapssome gratuitous swimsuit scenes at the local swimming hole? Maybe haveDoc Hart partake in some gator hunting? Maybe a zombie crossover withthe Walking Dead!?

Its detractors mostly fault it for what it's not- it's not your typicaldoctor-drama and it's not trying to portray a real-life surgeon. If you judge the show on what it is trying to do- provide 40 minutes ofheart-warming entertainment, then I think Rachel Bilson's nice-chickschtick and Lemon's bullying friendship along with great support fromthe rest of the cast, provides a nice alternative to practically everyother TV programme out there.I love that Hart of Dixie lets you take it with a pinch of salt. I likewatching a medically oriented programme that doesn't recycle those ERclichés that every such show from Third Watch to Grey's Anatomy has tohobble through for the plot. 'Get the paddles! clear!', 'he's gone intov-tach', tacky-cardia. I mean gimme a break. I'm sorry but the fakeblood, fake body parts, fake killing and murdering all have their placebut if a show wants a lighter take on living, outside of Vegas, Miamiand LA with fewer guns, more food, flirting, and dating and then what'snot to like? I wish them many happy returns. Hart of Dixie definitely deserves a second and third season as far asI'm concerned. I think the show has plenty of material to explore withrelationships, farce & fancy and the fish out of water element. Ireally hope it gets renewed.

I have to say, I watched the pilot episode for the first time lastnight and I LOVED IT!!!!!! I thought is was an awesome show and I thinkthat it has set up so many avenues for varying parts of the show. Ican't wait to see more and I really hope there are more series of this,I am already addicted to it! I don't understand how someone could notenjoy this show personally. I think that Zoe has been set up for somegreat learning experiences. I can understand that there are someclichés within the show, but come on! which show doesn't have clichésin it these days? It is a television show and people who want to takeit too seriously should go watch a documentary instead. I think thatthe clichés add to the show myself. I cannot wait to watch the nextepisode and hope that it comes out on DVD so I can buy it as well.

As an avid watcher of Gilmore Girls, I was eager to try out a showwhich many people seemed to think was fairly similar. I can definitelysee some similarities between Hart of Dixie and Gilmore Girls, but I dothink a more accurate match would be Everwood. In fact, Hart of Dixieis essentially the modernized replica of Everwood. Both shows tell thestory of New York surgeons relocating to a small town practice andcompeting with the other practitioner in town. The main differencebetween the two, however, is that Hart of Dixie features the beautifuland talented Rachel Bilson who plays a somewhat ditzy but ultimatelylovable character that just wants to fit in. Overall, with theexception of some Southern stereotypes which do at times make mecringe, I must admit I find this show very charming. The characters dodevelop throughout the season, and the medical aspect makes up for, say, the lack of quick-witted dialogue that Gilmore Girls provided. Iwould definitely recommend this show to those who enjoyed and missEverwood, and look forward to seeing the storyline progress.
