If nothing else Kindergarten Cop is one of the best action comedies ofall time. It holds its own in classic movies and its the type of thingyou could watch again and again. Many have different opinions of formerHollywood superstar Arnold Schwarzenegger and how he became the star heis/was. If you watch Kindergarten Cop it should explain everything. After a decade of adrenaline pumping action and one attempt at comedy(Twins) he combined the two to make a fun, wonderfully plotted, andbrilliantly directed film that is a classic. Following the recipe of agreat comedy you have hilarious kids and some of the funniest mostadorable moments, and you have a muscle bound, awkward action startrying to make these kids follow him as a Kindergartenteacher...hilarity truly does follow. The action side of the film isintense and thrilling enough to really keep it moving but the heart ofthe film is really the kids and the star interacting making some of themost memorable moments and lines from any eighties (very late eighties)movies. "Are these your lunches?" "It's not a tuma, it's not." "Boyshave a penis, girls have a vagina," and so many more.Arnold Schwarzenegger is actually one of my favorite actors. He hasearned his action status and I happen to think he does have some rangeas an actor however slim it may be but he really turns it up as hardedged Detective John Kimble. When the film begins he looks and actsjust like one of his action hero rolls. Everything changes when he hasto take on the role of the teacher. The fish out of water story hasnever been so funny and he pulls it off flawlessly and with an insaneamount of heart on his part. Pamela Reed is just amazing asSchwarzenegger's partner. They have terrific chemistry as partners andshe is hilariously funny and tough as nails. I would have loved to haveseen them team up again after this film. Penelope Ann Miller is theobject of their protection Joyce. She is lovely and somehow her andSchwarzenegger make the perfect couple. She isn't the best character inthe movie but she does well. Richard Tyson and Carroll Baker areabsolutely brilliant villains in the film. Tyson is twisted anddisturbing and Baker really is a fun but scary villain. I wish I couldgo into details and list every kid in the movie because they are alltruly terrific and all have their moments and lines that make this aclassic. No kid should be overlooked in this film because they are allmy favorite at different times.Eighties movie master Ivan Reitman helms Kindergarten Cop. He does sucha great job of balancing the action and thrills against true slapstickcomedy. That is perhaps one of Kindergarten Cop's crowning achievementsbeing both a full on action thriller and a slapstick roll in the aislescomedy. If you haven't seen Kindergarten Cop...while I'm surprisedgiven its popularity over the last 15 years but everyone should seethis because it is truly an astonishing, fun, and just all around greatfilm. One of my all time favorites to be sure. 9/10

a few moments of humor, but a typical Ivan Reitman film: BLAND AND CONTRIVED.

Today is a special day for me! On August 17th, 1995 was my first day of Kindergarten, so I figured I'd review this movie in honor of my 14 year Anniversary! This is a very funny movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a violent cop named John Kimble who goes undercover as a Kindergarten teacher in order to get close to the son of a bad guy Kimble has been chasing for years. He befriends him and his mother. I highly recommend KINDERGARTEN COP!!!

No matter how old you are, this movie is fun for everyone! Very funny, chock full of Arnold trademark facial expressions. We know how those can be. He also has his trademark screams and groans. Not to mention this movie contains many funny one-liners. There is also some action sequences between ARnold and the main bad guy, 'Crisp'. Hilarious fun, it'll have you laughing for days!

This is one of the best films with children I've ever seen! The way Arnold Schwartzenegger wins the love, respect, and even affection of these children is so touching.I especially love the relationship he develops with young Dominic and his mother. You can tell, that because he doesn't have a male figure in his life, that Dominic loves him more than anybody.Though the violence that erupts in the school with Dominic's father is disturbing, at least the film has a happy ending. The evil father ends up dead, Kimble recovers from his gunshot wounds and returns to work. . . as a kindergarten teacher!Great film!

This movie is action packed and hillarious!Arnold plays an under cover kindergarten teacher. He pulls it off well!A madman is trying to find his son after his ex-wife moved to Oregon with him.It is very cool that finally a movie is filmed in Oregon!Arnold and his partner Phoebe must find the madman and his mother before they get their hands on the child. There's only one problem, they don't know who the child is!Anyone who loves comedies will love it

Of course he (Arnold) is of course he is. This movie is funny, entertaining and fun. Though the storyline was a bit predictable (I already know who they were looking for after his first day at work). Everything in this movie is great, though some of his teaching i disagree, like the exercising. Great acting by the supporting cast and all around nothing wrong with the movie. Some of the lines in the line are memorible thanks to all those Arnold prank call.

This review is from: Kindergarten Cop (DVD) I've watched all of Arnold's movies. I'm certainly a big fan of his older like movies Terminator and Commando which I own. This was one of his attempts to step out of those types of roles and play something different. As a teacher myself, I can appreciate the difficulties he had in the role he was playing. Definitely, this was a stretch for Arnold but an excellent movie. I'd recommend this movie to anyone that likes a little of everything in a movie such as action, drama and comedy- Arnold type comedy.

One of Arnold's best film roles ever. After seeing this, you might sayto yourself that he could have stuck in out in films before becomingthe governor of California. In this very funny film Arnold is forced to go under cover as akindergarten teacher. He is actually looking for a drug dealer andbelieves that one of the kids in his class is the son of the guiltyculprit.Naturally, he gets more than he beckoned for. There is romance with afemale parent that brings unexpected results. Then, there is the matterof teaching. He is in a school with a maiden principal played memorablyby Linda Hunt. She knows why he is there but expects him to be a 100%teacher at all times. How he maintains order and does teaching to thebargain is hilarious and simply rewarding to the teaching profession.A must see film for young and old. I guarantee that the school systemwas never like this.

Kindergarten Cop is made up out of parts that shouldn't fit, but somehow they do, making a slick entertainment out of the improbable, the impossible, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

It takes a brave actor to dispute the old adage that "you should never workwith children and animals". Here, Arnold Schwarzenegger tackles both, playing a cop who goes undercover in a school, whilst taking his pet ferretalong for the adventure too. Arnold's performance may not be up to much, buthe manages to attain the giddy heights of "passable". Similarly, the storyis a contrived and unlikely slice of hokum, but it too just about earns a"passable" grade. L.A. detective John Kimble (Schwarzenegger) is renowned for his fist-first,questions-later attitude. He has spent years trying to nail criminalscumball Crisp (Richard Tyson), but is constantly frustrated by legalloopholes or lack of evidence. Having finally got his man on a murdercharge, Kimble turns his attention to finding some stolen money which Crispstill has to return. The clues suggest that Crisp's ex-wife has taken themoney and traded in her identity, moving to small-town Oregon. Kimble goesundercover in a school, posing as a kindergarten teacher (!) to locate themystery woman. Kindergarten Cop is fairly predictable stuff, but it has a lightness oftouch which makes it watchable. Few of the performances stand out - asmentioned, Arnie is merely passable, and his supporting players range fromOTT (Tyson) to slushy (Miller) to unconvincing (Baker). Only Linda Hunt andPamela Reed stamp their roles, as a fearsome headteacher and a resourcefullady cop respectively. The occasional comedy moments are fairly amusing, without being hilarious. And the action and violence is OK, though it oftenfeels toned-down (as if the makers are aware that they must not alienatetheir juvenile target audience). A decent film, but it'll never be regardeda classic.

We ordered this movie to show our 5 yr old granddaughter. The reason was to show her how to react to strangers. It did help her to understand what we were getting at. Do not go with people she didn't know or feel safe about, and to let those around her know things weren't right. MAKE A LOAD NOISE YELL "STRANGER"

Good morning how are you? This is us, Sid the Elf. How are you? First, we would just like to review this documentary about a time in Arnold Schwarzenegger's life when he decided to be an undercover cop and a kindergarten teacher at the same time. Thus, the documentary is entitled Kindergarten Cop. This film gives us some possible insight as to why Arnold can barley speak. Not once during the film did he teach his students academics. Instead, he focused on sit-ups, propper technique for lat pull-downs, and his ferret(which came out like fuerrett when Arnold said it). This man is amazing. In the 70's he allowed filmmakers to document his life as a 5-time Mr. Olympia, the title given to the world's foremost consumer of grilled chicken. Then, in 1990, he let us back into his life as we see his softer side while he saves a young boy and his mother from a very dangerous Steven Segal lookalike. Arnold goes undercover in a small Oregon town to find the son and ex-wife of the villan and his mother who is also a villan. Strange subplot here. Anyway, Arnold finally finds out who the mother and ex are and actually falls in love with the ex-wife. One of the biggest shocks of the movie comes at the end, when someone unexpected saves the day. Anyway, back to Arnold. He is now governor of the great state of Cali-fornia. Amazing! The reason Sid loves Arnold so much is because there are a number of soundboards dedicated to him and Kindergarten Cop features a whopping 28 soundboard lines that make this unintentional comedy comedy hillarious. That's the best part of the movie, picking out soundboard lines. So, if someone tells you Kindergarten Cop is a bad movie, say "No it is not true. It got Sid the Elf's seal of approval."

This movie is very great! Arnold teaching a bunch of screaming 5 year olds. the plot is well based, and arnold ends up falling head over heals for another single teacher at the school where he is teaching. the kids have all types of personalties, and arnold has to adjust from being a tough, hardcore police officer to a kindergarten teacher. good movie, good one to rent!

Kindergarten Cop was a surprisingly good film. I was not expecting itto work, and it worked so much better than I expected it to.Kindergarten Cop is a little overlong and the villains are perhaps alittle too pantomime. However, the film does look lovely, and the scoreand soundtrack gives it its heart-warming sentiment. The script also worked. It was funny, it was poignant and it waswell-meaning, while there is also a heart-warming story, good directionand pacing and the action while sometimes intense is well-handled.I was very surprised by the acting. Kindergarten Cop is not ArnoldSchwarznegger's best film, but it does show that he can do comedy, andhere he does do it well. He is suitably low-key and avoids being woodenas well. Penelope Ann Miller gives good support as well, and thechemistry between the two is convincing without taking over the filmtoo much. The characters could have easily been stereotypical andunlikeable, but they aren't, instead they have a certain warmth tothem, and this is including the kids.Overall, not a comedy classic, but it works far better than it shouldhave done. 8/10 Bethany Cox

This movie gets spoofed in JibJab's short film "Ah-nold for Governor" in which the Governator cites the movie as evidence of his gubernatorial political qualifications. Hey, it's a lot more convincing than John Kerry's. Especially since this movie is so irresistible. You just have to see the scene in which John Kimble reads the kids a poem about clouds. (Incidentally, it's Spring Morning" from A.A. Milne's book, "When We Were Very Young.") Schwarzenegger displays a Richard Belzer kind of tenderness. Then he will turn around and beat the living daylights out of the abusive father in the film ("He fell down. You all say the same thing.")Kimble's relationship with Grace is moving and convincing and his camaraderie with his female partner Phoebe is evocative of Detectives Benson and Stabler in "Law & Order: SVU". I love the scene in which he makes up an entire background (something cops are used to doing) and Phoebe pretends to have an Austrian accent (she's almost more convincing than Ah-nold.)The childrens' loyalty and response to Kimble is a joy to see. Schwarzenegger's work with children and his natural charisma make this fish-out-of-water story work. Anyone who's ever taught children will empathize with Kimble's disastrous first day. There are great villains in this piece too, including a mother-in-law from hell.My favorite lines...Phoebe: You're not so tough without your car, are you?Detective John Kimble: There *is* no bathroom.Joseph: Boys have a penis, girls have a vagina!Detective John Kimble: Thanks for the tip.Tina & Rina: Our mom says our dad is a real sex machine.Joseph: My dad's a gynecologist. He looks at vaginas all day long.Detective John Kimble: I Have a headache.Lowell: It might be a tumor.Detective John Kimble: It's not a tumor!Miss Schlowski: What did it feel like to hit that S.O.B.?Detective John Kimble: It felt great.(I love how the principal then starts practicing her right hook once Kimble leaves her office. You don't want to mess with this woman anyway, right hook or no.)Detective John Kimble: Just don't throw up on me.Phoebe: Nah, it's OK, I'm not gonna throw up on you. But I am gonna kiss you!Detective John Kimble: I really appreciate your honesty. You happen to know someone that is not better than me?Dominic: I don't know that many people.Detective John Kimble: They're 6-year-old kids. How much trouble can they be?Phoebe: On second thought, take the gun.Crisp's mother is buying a heap of pediatric medicationCullen Crisp: The boy's not sick.Eleanor Crisp: Doesn't hurt to take precautions.Cullen Crisp: Mother, you are going to make him sick. You stuffed all this crap down my throat for years, and there was nothing wrong with me!Eleanor Crisp: That's why there was nothing wrong with you.Cullen Crisp: Now, how can you argue with that?Great comedy.
