Knight and Day has action by the boatload, cheeky wit, unexpected double-crossing, sexual tension, and the blinding smile of its star, Tom Cruise. In short, what more could you ask of a rollicking good-time movie? Knight and Day, which also stars the irresistible Cameron Diaz as Cruises superspys ultimate foil, channels the best elements of earlier films like Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Mission Impossible, the Bourne films, and even a little of Duplicitys sophistication. Mostly, though, Knight and Day is about moving things along merrily, if not completely coherently, as the two stars tangle, and tussle with trust issues, in a completely believable, compulsively watchable way. Cruise plays Roy, an on-the-lam spy (who may have had some kind of psychotic break--or who may in fact be the only person telling the truth) he runs into the winsome June (Diaz), who gets caught up in Roys mad dash to escape the cabal of federal agents on his tail. No one follows us, Roy announces to a terrified diner crowd as he moves to make his escape with June, or I kill myself--and then her. While Knight and Day, directed by James Mangold, has more than its share of high-speed chases, hails of bullets, and explosions, it works far better as a romantic comedy--for the chemistry between Diaz and Cruise is delicious, palpable, and believable. So grab a date and an extra-large popcorn, and get ready for a sweet and fun Knight and Day.

I haven't been a big fan of Tom Cruise for several years but he played this role perfectly. He and Diaz are a great match. The special effects and stunt work are excellent. It's a fun flick (I laughed quite a bit) and well worth a couple hours.

As you know from my reviews, I hate romantic comedies. Especially PG-13one's that refuse to take any risks what-so-ever and are so familyfriendly that it becomes ridicules. But when I see stronger performerslike Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz, I have a little more faith. Nowgranted, not the best actors of our time, but I'd rather see them thanAshton Kutcher and Katherine Heigl. So I wanted to give this movie avery fair chance and over all as predictable and stupid as it was, Istill had a good time watching it. There were some really stupidmoments, but if something is funny, why not laugh? Tom Cruise is greatat playing this smooth killer agent and Cameron Diaz was also good asthe naive bystander who just happens to be in the wrong place at thewrong time when she meets him. What makes this film work in my opinionis the chemistry between Cruise and Diaz, they have worked togetherbefore in Vanilla Sky. I thought they were pretty decent together thenand now they're showing that they can really work together well in afilm. They made this stupid story work.Roy Miller and June Havens bump into each other twice at the airport.Completely taken with Miller, Havens goes to the restroom; and theremaining passengers all attack Roy, he calmly informs June thateveryone on the plane is dead, including the pilots. Believing it ajoke, Junr plays along until Roy enters the cockpit. Crashing into acorn field, Miller delivers Havens home after drugging her andexplaining that other agents will visit and that they are planning tokill or imprison her. The next day June is picked up by a group ofintelligence agents. Roy arrives and, through a long gunfight on thehighway, kills several agents and saves June. Roy explains that June issafer with him; and she agrees to follow him as they go to pick upSimon Feck, a genius inventor who created a perpetual energy batterycalled the Zephyr. As it turns out that Roy is being framed by hisformer partner saying that he will sell the Zephyr to terrorists. ButJune must figure out who she can trust in this crazy situation. While the story is beyond predictable and we have to have a lot ofsuspension in disbelief with it as well, I think it's something you canenjoy if you just let go and have a good time. I hate saying this asyou know how I feel about this genre of romantic comedy. But it's oneof those movies you could get a very good chuckle out of. I loved thescene where Cameron is taken by the FBI for the first time and she getsinto a nasty car chase as people are shooting at her and Cruise justlands on top of her car like it's something he does every day and justtalks to her calmly. Also the scene between her, her ex boyfriend andCruise in the diner was very funny. Like I said, it's the actors thatmake this lousy story work, even if the characters are under developed.I think this movie is an example of mindless fun, so just let go andhave fun with this one.6/10

When you first see the trailer you think "Great another cliché actioncomedy with big celebrities!" Nop, it is truly a very enjoyable movieto watch with clever humour, excellent action scenes with car chasesand planes crashes.Tom Cruise is very cool and funny playing his part amazingly for hisage.Cameron Diaz has aged but still looks amazing playing a naive singlewoman who wanted some excitement in her life and boy does Cruisedeliver for her.The chemistry between them is much better than Vanilla Sky and it's amovie that you can watch more than once. Truly worth watching!

This is a cute sort of spy movie where Tom Cruise is a spy and Cameron Diaz stumbles into the adventure. Cruise plays his part so well in this tongue-in-cheek adventure that I could not help laughing. Diaz does a nice job as the naive leading lady in film and the action keeps the adventure rolling. This is the kind of film I could watch over and over for a good chuckle.Add a star if you are not overly critical and not too serious.

Action/Romance/Comedy - what more could you want? Reminiscent of "Foul Play" with Goldie Hawn/Chevy Chase (which I loved) but 200% better! Great date movie too. Can't wait to see it again.

I was so over Tom Cruise and then I saw this movie where he feels like a crazy person which fits with his persona right now but then he turns out to be a big action hero and super spy who isn't crazy at all. The action in this movie is really big, much bigger than the commercials showed and goes over the top a lot which I liked. The only downside was Cameron Diaz who was fine but didn't really do anything for the whole movie. I never thought her character was all that interesting and she's the main one. I think a more engaging actress would have really turned this into a classic movie, maybe Reese Witherspoon and Tom Cruise of ten years ago.

This is a great summer film and in addition to that it's "original" in the regard it's not a sequel. While I'm not a fan of Tom Cruise I did enjoy him in this movie and I absolutely loved Cameron Diaz as usual. Great action sequences with a plot that is plausible in that summer movie kind of way, it's a fun film.

In the midst of a summer blockbuster season that is filled withpredictable remakes and sequels ("Toy Story 3" doesn't count) - "Knightand Day" manages to keep the audience at their toes and their attentionspan glued to the screen.Well, this film is certainly interesting, to say the least. Tom Cruiseand Cameron Diaz are very unlikely co-stars so casting them in a movietogether will have their fans scratching their heads. Is it a Cruiseaction flick? Or is it a Diaz romantic comedy? The answer is both.Among all the romantic action/comedy/thrillers out this year ("DateNight", "The Bounty Hunter", "Killers"), "Knight and Day" surpassesthem in both scale and quality, slightly upstaging "Date Night".Surprisingly the film delivers what it promises - action, intrigue, laughs, romance, and most important of them all - escapism. This isdefinitely a spy fantasy come true - exotic locations, exhilaratingaction sequences, evil baddies, and plot twists galore. Yes, some ofthem are absurd, but keep in mind that the film is also a comedy, it'smeant to be absurd. If you don't like it, stop reading this review andavoid watching this film.Cruise and Diaz play each other off very comfortably and both areterrific in the roles that they were given. The chemistry between themis terrific, as if the time between this film and "Vanilla Sky" nineyears ago didn't affect them at all. Cruise does what he does best asthe super (sometimes TOO super) secret agent - he also has greatcomedic timing to boot, poking fun at his "Mission: Impossible"character with tongue-in-cheek wit; while Diaz scurries around as anaverage Jane thrust into an unusual situation with lots of charm andcuteness from her. Peter Sarsgaard, Jordi Molla, Viola Davis and PaulDano give good supporting performances that I would not spoil for youreaders.Like I said earlier, the action sequences are WAY over-the-top, with afew scenes of obvious CGI, and sometimes the editing was a wee bitfaster than usual, and some of the action sequences end too quickly andlose their momentum. Then again, there is almost non-stop action fromstart to finish when it first starts. Director James Mangold is adirector of various types of films, and he shows a knack for directingtension-filled and exhilarating action sequences. The script is well-written given its type, and holds on to our interest. Production designand cinematography are great and holds up well compared to other actionthrillers, but it's the music score that really stands out - JohnPowell, again, creates a fantastic music atmosphere that really putsyou into the mood - be it romance and comedy or espionage and intrigue. In short, I really enjoyed watching this movie, and it's nice to see amovie that is meant for pure popcorn entertainment, pure escapism thatis NOT based on a old movie/TV-series or another bland sequel. Cruiseand Diaz are terrific together and I hope they do another filmtogether.Entertainment value: 10/10Overall: 7/10 (Solid fun.)

KNIGHT AND DAY Â CATCH IT ( B+ ) Knight and Day, well I've been waitingfor this movie ever since it's in the making and when it came out, Iheard the negative reviews. I was surprised as it has the biggest starsof Hollywood it can't be that bad. After watching the movie now I knowwhy critics are so negative about it because the script or story lineof the movie is really childish. You don't expect such plot line fromTom Cruise or Cameron Diaz. Still it doesn't mean it doesn't work, itactually work perfectly because once you get the story it's easy to buythe movie further. Knight and Day starts off really confusing andunrealistic plus the plane crash and then car chase sequences seemsover the top. (Though they were brilliantly shot). Later on there arenonstop action sequences and the end action sequence within the Bullrace in Spain is just simply Jaw Dropping. Tom Cruise is charismaticand Cameron Diaz is cheerful and their chemistry is the total base ofthe movie. Maggie Grace, Marc Blucas, Paul Dano, Viola Davis werewasted and Peter Sarsgaard is OK as always. (I always found himincredibly boring actor) They make it work big time plus the heavylarger than life action sequences makes it really treat to watch. Ithink if they worked a little more on the story it could have been abrilliant entertainer like Mr. and Mrs. Smith but still nonetheless itis quite entertaining. Watch it you won't disappoint and Tom Cruisehaters should take rest now, leave him Alone!

This review is from: Knight and Day (Single-Disc Blu-ray) (Blu-ray) Just as the song goes, "Night and day, you are the one." Cruise and Diaz are the ones. These two pros were having fun doing this movie and even though the story was not exactly unique I had fun watching it. I hate using the word "chemistry" because it is so abused but it is obvious that these two are friends having a good time working together and it comes across with this fast paced story photographed in beautiful places. Everyone did their job from writer, director, actors and the support team with a gold star going to Diaz and Cruise who put it across. Worth every penny. It is a good and entertaining time. That is the point, isn't it?!

I have a hard time digesting most Hollywood action movies. The actionscenes are so far fetched defying any credibility. Yet there isapparently a gullible paying audience ignoring the laws of physics andthe laws of nature while enjoying incomprehensible fluff. The James Bondish attitude is rampant. One individual wiping out awhole army. One individual fist fighting a legion of well armed andwell trained gangs of misfits.Make believe or not, reality is never too far behind. I challengeanyone to a fisticuff against a horde of miscreants and come outunscathed while adjusting their neck tie and off strolling to thesunset on the horizon! Give me a break!

I think this movie was very entertaining and easy to watch. The genreis action romantic comedy. This movie will not make you think, it willnot make you admire the storyline or the script as the story does notbring anything new to the genre. However, this movie will entertainyou, it will make you laugh and it will connect you with the leadcharacters (well played by Cruise and Diaz). This is a good example ofa summer blockbuster movie which achieves its purpose, entertainment.Maybe you are wondering how this movie did not score a lot at thebox-office since it is fun and has two major stars acting in it. Ithink the reason is simple, recent decrease in popularity of its leadactor due to his statements covered by the media. If this was not thecase this movie would easily earn over 150m $ in the US.The lead actors, however, have good chemistry between them and this iswhat the whole movie depends on. Although they are making movies prettylong time they handle their roles with enthusiasm typical for youngeractors. Well done Cruise and Diaz. And last but not least, directorJames Mangold who has a line of good movies behind him contributedsignificantly to make this movie fun and easy to watch. However, thismovie cannot be considered to be one of his greatest achievements sincehe also made Identity, 3:10 to Yuma, Walk the Line etc, Maybe best wayto describe the movie would be to say this is Mission: Impossible witha romantic twist to it. Enjoy.

Cameron Diaz is everywoman (yeah, right) June, who happens to fall inwith apparently rogue CIA man Ray as he cheerfully crashes airliners, kills loads of people, and generally wreaks mayhem. Of course, there'sa bit more behind it than that and, of course, June turns out to havelatent skills, and of course a relationship starts to develop (or doesit?).Knight and Day (I can see where the Knight comes from, although blinkand you'll miss it, but I still don't know about the Day bit) badlywants to be True Lies - both are predicated on secret agent withcivilian woman involved in a caper, both have a woman losing controlwhen firing an automatic weapon, both have a scene of amusing responseswhile under the influence of a truth drug, both have a sexy bit(Cameron Diaz in a brief red bikini which nearly invalidates themovie's 12 certificate), and so on. But Knight And Day never quiteworks. There's quite a lot which does - the action set pieces are mostly funand fine: totally improbable, but that's par for the course, Cruise andDiaz have good on-screen chemistry, and Diaz is absolutely delightful(if somewhat unbelievable).I think the problem lies with Cruise's Ray. The character is sorelentlessly good humoured as he happily demolishes property and takesmultiple lives (most of whom are, admittedly, trying to take his) thathe comes across as manic, and all too believably having a psychoticepisode (which, per the plot, may well be the case). Things don't hangtogether as well as they did in True Lies, and there are an awful lotof unanswered questions (not least of which is where June keeps gettingcomplete new wardrobes from). If you are a demanding movie watcher, this film is going to reallyannoy you. I'm not, it didn't, and I quite enjoyed it.

My daughter saw the movie before I did & said it was entertaining & funny. I saw it yesterday & found it very enjoyable & hilarious! I usually assume a good flick when the critics don't.

Good movie which everyone liked. Fast pace is entertaining. Can't give it more than 3 stars, as there was nothing outstanding about it. The acting, action and plot were all fine, but nothing out of the ordinary, new or memorable. Cruz' work in the action scenes was very good. Would give it 3 1/2 stars for that.

I'm not a big fan of either of the stars in this movie but I laughed the whole time. I loved the calm interplay between Roy and June during the shootouts or other crisis', it made it all the more fun. Great movie, hoping one of the kids will buy it for me for Chrismtas.

Boba_Fett1138 27 April 2012
Of course this is not a great movie but I don't mind this sort ofmovies being made. The sort of movies with a big budget and a star castbehind it, that are purely being made to entertain. For the studiosit's a good and safe way to make some big cash and for its audience itcan be often a pleasant viewing experience. A typical popcorn-flick.And yes, you can say a lot about this movie but it at least is anentertaining one to watch. Just sit back and enjoy. A perfect movie tokill some time with when you don't want to watch anything too heavy. But by saying all this I'm not claiming that this is a great movie. Onthe contrary really. It's flawed in more than a couple of ways and mostnotably with its story. The movie is such nonsense and the story ishighly unlikely and too often just doesn't make any sense. It justisn't the most clever spy-comedy around and it even gets quite tiresomeafter a while. It's definitely a movie that feels longer than it trulyis and it could and also probably should all had ended way sooner. Sono, I won't watch this movie any time soon again but still I don'tregret ever watching it.It really is its high budget and star power behind it that makes thismovie such a watchable one. Its high budget provides the movie withplenty of big action moments. The one more realistic and better lookingthan the other. But the movie gets still mostly driven by its actors.Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz play the lead roles in this movie and youjust can't really go wrong with those two. I have always liked TomCruise, especially in action movies. He can be a true action star, thaton top of things also can really act, unlike most other action stars. And even though he's close to being 50, he still has the right looksfor the part and can still play it convincingly. Watching him in thismovie, you would never guess how old he truly was at the time. Same canbe said for Cameron Diaz, who is also still great looking for her ageand actually only seems to get prettier. I never cared much aboutCameron Diaz' looks back in the days when she was the new hot star inHollywood, around the time she did "The Mask" and "There's SomethingAbout Mary" but suddenly I'm now way more able to appreciate her looksand I'm even start to like her better as an actress as well. It's still kind of odd as to why all these big names, both in front andbehind the camera, decided to sign on to this movie. I guess thatthings looked great and promising on paper, while the execution of itwas a bit lacking and also sort of a disappointment. And I can reallysee this movie working out as a way better- and also more fun one, instead of the movie that it's now but at least it also isn't thehorrible movie lots of other people are claiming it to be.A good movie to kill some time with.6/10http://bobafett1138.blogspot.com/

I think this may be my first time posting on here. I usually just readthe reviews etc, but this time, I thought I would put my thoughts down. For me, this movie was what has been missing from today's actionflicks. It was fun, exciting, and well acted. It started out exciting, and ended exciting. There were a few parts where I was like "enoughalready with Ray's calm attitude", but that ended quickly. There aren'tmany movies that I watch twice... I will sit down again to watch thiswith the wife. 9 of 10 ( watched The Expendables before this and thatmovie was just such horrible acting/writing ) so this was a refreshingmovie experience.
DarkVulcan29 25 April 2012
I'm still trying to figure why this movie tanked at box office. I meanwhen i saw it, what i saw was a fun flick with two leads who havewonderful chemistry. The action was over the top, but thats what it wasmeant to be, like a Transporter flick that never takes itself tooseriously.June(Cameron Diaz) is trying to catch a plane home, to her sisterswedding. She bumps into Roy(Tom Cruise) a handsome polite stranger, whoshe thinks he is what he appears. When she gets on the plane with Roy,she quickly discovers he is not what he appears to be. When he killseverybody on the plane, mainly they all tried to kill him, now June isdrawn into his world of danger, not knowing if she will come out alive.Knight and Day was just an entertaining popcorn flick, it does not tryto be anything more. It had a little better action than Killers, but ithad a thousand times more laughs than The Bounty Hunter. Cruise andDiaz are great together, I hope they will team up again someday. Also agreat supporting role by Paul Dano(There Will Be Blood).
